If this were true, would the Left be talking about it?

The “bench” is usually the next old fart in line. This gave is Dole, McCain, Romney, etc. Trump is a symptom of the tone-deaf GOPe.

You’re reading it wrong.
The Republicans in question are the Republican Establishment. They aren’t “admitting” anything, they’re telling you what THEY intend to DO if Trump or Cruz is the nominee.
The Republican Establishment is TELLING everyone THEY intend to destroy the GOP for a generation if Trump or Cruz is the nominee.

Republicans are wondering whether or not they will have a party left after Trump and Cruz get done with them.
They say it likes it’s a bad thing.

Patriots need to exercise their voting muscle to peacefully force the corrupt feds to surrender the 10th Amendment-protected state powers that the feds have stolen from the states back to the states.
Patriots also need to work with state lawmakers to amend the Constitution to prohibit political party support for federal lawmakers and presidents. After all, where federal domestic policy is concerned, it should not take multiple policial parties to decide policy for the US Mail Service (1.8.7).

Yeah, sure, it’ll destroy the Republican Party just like Reagan did. What it will do is destroy the GOPe. Those cockroaches need destroying.

Sometimes, you have to destroy something in order to save it. The GOPe certainly isn't the same party it was when I pulled the lever for Reagan.........most of these country club asshats would have blended invisibly into the Carter Administration.

correction: “destroy the GOPe for a generation”
Which is good.

The GOPe maybe. - Time marches on. Things change. Will

- It has now reached critical mass.

That Article is a load of steaming excrement. A win by Trump or Cruse could not destroy the GOP. The GOP-E has already done that through their cowardice. Allowing a dictator like Obama to destroy this country Economically, Militarily and Racially in 7 years. Imagine what he could do if he tried to extend his term another 4 years.

I was secretly hoping that they would “destroy” it for more than a generation. We need a two party system in this country again.

“Republicans Admit That A Trump Or Cruz Win Will Destroy The GOP For A Generation”
I thought this was ok with the GOPe. They were willing to lose a few elections to get rid of the conservative voting base. Of course, I don’t know where they thought they would make up a new voter base and I don’t know why they thought the Dem party would allow them to emerge once the Dem’s had a single party state in their hands, but I never really understood the GOPe anyway. The GOPe has mucked up Presidential elections going back to the early 90s and that seems like a generation by my account. So if another generation was lost to the GOPe, it wouldn’t be a new development. It seems to me, the GOPe is more concerned about losing their gravy train. The GOPe only wants donors, not those pesky voters who are always demanding representation and responsibility.

In all honesty, a win by Trump or Cruz would probably destroy the idea of THEIR GOP, but the GOP brand would likely be improved for the rest of us.
