the strategy is to get a rino stooge elected. The strategy of the GOPe, yes. Truly, they are earning their nickname of the Stupid Party, are they not?

What’s that nasty remark supposed to mean?
To: dp0622
Yes, it would and there really IS a chance of that happening, which would put the heel on Ed Cox's neck and make me very happy.
Don't you read the N.Y. Post ?
To: Albion Wilde
The ten million die-hard purist conservatives who stayed home rather than vote for Romney -- thus handing the election to Obama -- apparently believed it. Can you source that AW, or is that an estimate?
As much as I bitched about Romney, I still voted for him.

Reagan couldn't unseat Ford, but I doubt that that's what you meant. :-)
Other than that, nope, I can't think of one either.
To: KGeorge; Albion Wilde
That’s now, but prebably that would change somewhat if everyone on this thread were pinged. :’) Trump-Cruz 2016/2020 means Cruz-whomever 2024/2028 — but I’ll be happy to vote for either of them at the top of the ticket.

I'm trying to think of a "celebrity" candidate that lost their first election and drawing a blank.Ronald Reagan lost his first nomination, IIRC.

LOL....
I'm not all that knowledgeable re some "music", but very knowledgeable about other other forms of it. I know who that group was, but don't know that song and am not going to waste my time bothering to click on a that link. :-)
OTOH, that poster just PROVED how EMOTIONAL and irrational some Cruz supporters are, by ignoring my fact laced post.
To: Albion Wilde
I already posted that. GMTA

Reagan couldn't unseat Ford, but I doubt that that's what you meant. :-) Correct. I'm just noting that when the candidate is a bona fide "celebrity," but otherwise unknown in a popular election: they ALWAYS win.

Like JFK ?
Not that he was an actual “celeb”, but the papers and MSM made him out to be one.
To: papertyger
I truly cannot put in the time now, as it is 2:00 in the AM here, to find you a link; it is a recollection of an estimate I heard around the time of the last election, and was discussed a good bit here on FR — the number of registered conservative voters who did not turn out in that election. Some blamed it on the candidate’s Mormonism, others on his having deployed RomneyCare in Massachusetts; etc. Taking the size of the population as a whole, it doesn’t sound too far-fetched, since he, like McCain, was anointed by the GOPe and the media, not by The People. Sorry. Usually I’m a demon for detail. Ask me in a couple of days. I have a killing schedule this week.
