This is media driven. Having read quotes from both candidates, neither seems like something to kick up a fuss about. The media is trying to light a fuse any way it can.

The media has two strategies to try to get Trump to fly off the handle:

1. Pit him against Cruz in all out war.
2. Cherry pick your least favorable poll and push it relentlessly. Knowing full well that Trump watches and comments on the polls.

I think strategy #2 is their better option. Cruz and Trump may go "tit for tat" here and there, but I'm not sure we're going to see the war that the media is salivating over.
