It's absolutely true that Cruz was the embodiment of a political outsider in his run for the U.S. Senate in Texas, but there is evidence vastly more meaningful to me that he maintains his outsider status in office (contrast this with Rubio).

usafa92, perhaps you're not aware of complaints from former major contributors to Cruz's Senate campaign that he refuses to assist them if their interests are contrary to the public good or conservative principles of governance.
