I think this reflects their status in the polls more than who actually won a debate. Winning a debate is really the delta between your pre-debate poll and post debate poll.

Not necessarily since Rubio has never been in second place, and all the post-debate polls, whether just on websites or in some of the more official ones, all showed the following pattern:

1) Trump

2) Rubio

3) Cruz

OR

Trump

Cruz

Rubio

Neither Cruz nor Rubio are in 2nd or third place nationally, maybe Rubio might be third place in some polls, but Cruz never this far.

That leads me to believe that the impression among most people is that Trump carried the day, followed by Cruz or Rubio, the latter of whom they will not necessarily vote for.

Even though Carson now leads nationally? And Rubio and Cruz have increased in polls while trump has gone down a couple points?

I’m just starting what I’m seeing. I think Trump did fine but it wasn’t a “win”... Maybe a draw where he didn’t hurt himself but he didn’t help increase his lead either.
