The conservative pundit tells CNN Republicans will become "relics" if they don't evolve on same-sex marriage.
Conservative pundit S.E. Cupp got emotional on CNN Friday afternoon in the wake of the Supreme Courts ruling on marriage equality, which she urged the Republican party to accept. Tears welling, lip quivering and all, Cupp a longtime supporter of same-sex marriage, though not always for the most progressive reasons begged the GOP to evolve on the issue, lest conservatives begin to be viewed as relics.
Those people there are not pariahs, theyre patriots, Cupp said of same-sex couples. And wherever you stand on the politics of this issue its hard not to see these people as just wanting the human dignity that the rest of us have when it comes to death benefits, hospital visitation or child custody.
The commentator also told host Wolf Blitzer that the issue is one of basic morality, not of politics. And when pressed on conservatives continuing objections to the Supreme Courts decision, Cupp explained that its long past time for the GOP to join the 21st Century.
This is America, Cupp said. Those people are Americans, and that is our future. And so for my party, which I deeply deeply love my party really has to reconcile the fact that we are going to become relics if we dont get to where these people are.

God spoke on this issue. He said “NO.”
No, it’s a female who uses her initials for some reason.
We must be living by a completely different set of standards.
Sad to realize how many equate the vagina to the anus.
Wonder if the “S.E.” is short for “Sippee”. :P
Sarah Elizabeth “S. E.” Cupp.
Apparently the word “evolve” has also been redefined: another casualty of the fundamental transformation of the language.
I’m really shocked at the nature of the comments following the original article. Holy cow. The Salon readership are a bunch of rabid dogs, hateful of anything conservative. And stupidly convinced the Republican party stands for everything they hate. They need to wake up and smell the coffee. No one in the GOP running for office is going to protest this ruling. They will all find ways to swallow it without puking.
Do you get why I’m working on my wife to see if we can expatriate?
So the names “Cruz” and “Huckbee” don’t ring a bell with you?
On this and in some many occasions....Larry Sabato is correct. I think the shocker for all folks (including the gay agenda folks) will be the moment within four months where a guy is refused a marriage license to marry his second wife, and starts a court episode going to the Supreme Court. By the summer of 2017, the same court will agree that threesome or foursomes marriage are also legal. At that point, cousins can entertain a marriage challenge to the court, as well brother and sister situations. I think independents will step along with each one of these and accept the idea as legit.
The only place where independents might stop and start drawing a line is where a church might be challenged in court to marry a gay couple where the church has an iron-clad rule. It’ll be curious to see how the Supreme Court views happiness and religious freedoms....who has the higher priority?
I believe that an exit strategy is essential.

Really? You are shocked ? You shouldn’t be if you were paying attention....
These are the same people who would be the first to stand you up against a wall or put you in a boxcar.... To get your mind right...
My solution is. Either the GOP holds firm, or we totally DESTROY the GOP to pave the way for something more radical
HOMOSEXUALS: You can “depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” .
Why the freedom found in the penumbra, of course.
Um, penumbra. Sounds like Panerra Bread.
If we were to accept homo-marriage, S.E., we would be Losing Our Religion.
She loves her party? I can see loving a candidate, but I am sure not locked in to the republican party anymore.
Accept people who can reproduce as our ‘’future’’?
