There are complaints coming from those that are denying fundamental tights to their slaves? You do know Slavery is illegal in the USA right? There is even a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting slavery. I would be interested in hearing the complaints from "those denying far more fundamental rights to their slaves!"
The flag does not equate to slavery.
It is a symbol of the South.
For 80 years or so, slavery was A-Okay under the stars and stripes. Should we remove all of those too?
Leftists will not be happy with this. That is why you never give in to them.
This is insanity. I am ready to buy a dozen Confederate flags just as an FU to the forces that be.
:’)
Good for them!
1. There are no longer any Southerners who will argue that slavery was a good thing.
2. There are many Southerners who rightly consider the Confederate battle flag a legitimate symbol of their heritage.
3. Indeed, many non-Southerners have adopted the flag as a general representation of their "rebel" status -- without regard to its connection to the Confederacy. Ever notice how many bikers sport the flag? Including Hispanics and blacks?
4. Point is, the Rebel Flag transcends its initial employment as a battle flag for some units of the Confederate army.
5. And the larger point is that this isn't about slavery or the murder of those nine souls. The Confederate battle flag didn't make Dylan Storm Roof shoot them. Not any more than his .45 Glock was guilty of killing them.
6. What this is is a divisive political campaign designed to shame Southern conservatives and embarrass their Republican governors and legislators. The battle flag is an incidental victim...and the nine dead souls in the church are ignored.
And, dammit, why can't you see that?
If not the state of South Carolina, who would you propose to sort it out?
No "weasel-word crap", please...
And today, in 2015, Arab Muslims are buying and selling Black African slaves and the whole world, including and especially the Liberal US Establishment, is completely ok with that fact.
So whatever else is going on here it has 0.0000 to do with slavery.
>> Meanwhile, most of the other declared and probable Republican candidates cave to the media and social justice posse.
Sadly true.
Isn’t that the Ray McKigney memorial?
Cruz is correct. How else would you have him state it? It is a state matter, not a Federal/U.S. government matter.
He may not personally believe the Confederate flag should be flown on government property. Who knows.
“No “weasel-word crap”, please...”
No referring to solid answers as “weasel-word crap,” please.
The question here is not who should sort it out.
What makes it weasel-word crap is their failure to condemn the anti-CSA-flag hysteria for what it is.
You nailed it. In spite of what the governors of Southern states, the MSM and the jerk in the White House are demanding, this is about erasing or changing the history of the South...and eventually the whole country. The pride and honor that Southerners feel for their region is to be ripped away. The less pride, honor and self-reliance Americans have in anything the more power the jerk in the White House and the other socialists will gain.
The Stars & Bars are just a foothold to bigger things, like the Bible, or Old Glory, or statues of the honored war dead, it goes on and on.
Cannot people see what this is all really about?
“How else would you have him state it?”
I would like him to say, “I agree with Lee Bright; it is comparable to a Stalinist Purge. The race-baiting poverty pimps are making something of nothing in an attempt to harm the United States, and I intend to do everything in my power to get them before grand juries for indictment.”
Not, “Well, it (weasel, squirm) should (weasel, squirm) be (weasel, squirm) a (weasel, squirm) state (weasel, squirm) matter (flee in terror).
He’s weak.
You know it is a purge when a Nobel prize winning chemist Tim Hunt is ousted from his job AND the London Royal Society, for making a weak and mildly sexist joke about women in the lab.
“There’s plenty of traditional Americans in those places (and some leftists in the SE, Texas, parts of non-rust belt Midwest and Mtn west).
For the most part, it’s about the major cities and academia havens vs everyone else.”
Yes but traditional Americans are a distinct minority in the northeast, mid-Atlantic/Rust Belt and Pacific Coast, just as leftists, secularists are a distinct minority in the SE, Texas, parts of non-rust belt Midwest and Mountain west. As for “academia havens”, they simply don’t have populations large enough to make a difference. Do leftists in College Station, TX or Athens, GA really have much of an impact on those states? I think not. I imagine that when the separation does come, you’ll see some cross-migration of leftists out of “Flyoverland” into “Secularland” and traditionalists out of “Secularland” into “Flyoverland”. Of course, not all of these people will feel so strongly about their values that they’d take the big step of moving.
Pro-gay, pro-censorship, and prejudiced against the South.
Go to hell and get the hell off this website.
