Regardless of what some soldiers did or did not believed - the South’s stated goal was to fight for the right to continue of slavery. A horrific genocide that caused the death of millions and has caused generations of consequences that we still deal with today. The millions of slaves who were raped, murdered, beaten, and tortured would call the south aggressors.
This is not a debatable. The south was nice enough to admit it and write it down for us before the war.
If half your reason for not supporting Ted Cruz is because he doesn't sign on to your revisionist version of history then I'd be fascinated to know what the other reason is.
Damn straight.
Both those who see a history of racial oppression and a history of slavery, which is the original sin of our nation, and we fought a bloody civil war to expunge that sin.
Huh?
Of course slavery was the reason for the War of Southern Aggression. The only (singular) “states right” that any of the slavers were interested in was the right to own other human beings.
You don’t see chattel slavery that way?
And while you’re waiting for her answer, look at her “born-on” date.
Some say he looks an awful lot like Malcolm X.
We do that with dogs, cats, horses and other pets & livestock. Doesn't make them human.
Ted Cruz - sounds like a states’ rights man to me!
A respect for the Constitution must be restored. A man who understands who we are and why we formed a more perfect union is a man destined for the White House.
Unfortunately Mr. Cruz is working against generations of publically ‘educated’ kids who have little or no understanding of what that document is and what it means.

While we're at it, who's the idiot that brought up the $10 bill issue? The country is going in the crapper faster than Cloward-Piven could have dreamed and some asshole thinks it's a priority to put a new face on a currency note?
It was wrong of journalists to press the governor on the flag when she was trying to reassure people and bring them together, but when things like this happen, people are going to comment on them and use what happened to promote their own agenda.
Based on what the clown who did the shooting is claimed to have said, he would be more at home with a Nazi flag not a CSA flag.
I don’t think it would fly in the north, but if SC is Ok with it, then I’m not going to say anything about it.
“Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition.” Alexander Stephens
That's the problem. All of these people have an agenda that is evidenced by their comments. But, they are also know by their comments and their ignorance of the Constitution or willingness to not abide by it.
Walker, Bush, and Kasich are avoiding the issue.
Very wise move since none of them are from South Carolina. Walker is working and needs to keep his nose in Wisconsin and getting things done. Cruz once again is out and about talking.....never saw a microphone he didn’t like.
Walker working hard in his state
Cruz should be in Texas or at least DC working.
Enjoy your establishment boy, then. He seems to suit you. Give me a man who isn’t afraid to take a stance.
