I don’t recall reading that people questioned RFK’s lack of executive experience in 1968. I guess they considered being his brother’s attorney general was “executive” experience. But Cruz is the former solicitor general of TX.

That was a quasi-monarchical, quasi-religious thing.
We'll never know now what kind of president Bobby would have made, but his followers weren't good models of political judgment.
