OK, let's rephrase: The media knows that social conservatives would rather STAY HOME than vote for a less than perfect conservative.

And we've had plenty on FR say just that.

“Less than perfect”? I was thinking more along the lines of “pusillanimous, two-faced, mealy-mouthed, and puddin-headed.”

In 2008 and 2012 I saw people stay home because the Republican candidate wasn't conservative at all.

No, neither John McCain nor Mitt Romney are conservatives.

The problem is that people who have a demonstrable lack of the fear of God have not an iota of inhibition about “evolving” away from the damn lies they told as a candidate. We have majorities in Congress full of such liars, for whom real conservatives pinched their noses and voted, that care not a whit about the abortion holocaust or the economic enslavement of many generations of survivors to come.
