Obama is turning more black people into racists, and more pseudo intellectuals on the left into race mongering lunatics. The lesson to be learned here is that Obama is bad, and we shouldn’t let something like his regime happen again. Where to start?

1. Regarding the surveys: They reflect opinions as to why blacks haven't advanced as much as hoped, but they provide no evidence as to what the facts really are. Moreover, they offer pre-determined alternatives that lack nuance and force people into replies that imperfectly represent their real opinion, and therefore DISTORT those opinions. Moreover, they do not offer the option of explaining the reasons for the opinions, to test whether they are rational or mere prejudice.

2. In most cases, the Republican gains were in contests where both candidates were white, and where specifically racial issues were not even being debated. Moreover, two black Republicans were elected even though blacks represent only a small percent of the party.

3. Insofar as racial issues were not even on the table in this election, it is ridiculous to say that Republican gains somehow set back racial progress or reflected racial animus. Methinks the author projects his own prejudices and bigotry onto others.

I'm pretty sure he's the first black Senator ever from that state.

Oh, and there was an article on DU as to why they lost so many seats and of course, it was because of racism. Some lousy FReeper troll said "what about Tim Scott" and the reply was "he's an Uncle Tom".

I just really enjoy reading over there, sometimes it's pretty comical. Then again, other times I just have to shake my head and turn it off - cannot imagine how people can be so crazy. That was one of the headshaking, turning off times so I don't know how that comment "he's just an Uncle Tom" went over. They base a large percentage of what they write on racism. They are eaten up with it.

I think the author is ignoring a fairly obvious fact from his statistics.

If blacks are largely, though perhaps not exclusively, responsible for their own problems, it is possible for them to fix them themselves.

If those problems are imposed on them by society, then they must wait for others to fix their problems.

IOW, the “blame blacks” POV actually assigns more agency to them than the “blame whitey” POV.
