Thanks, just noticed the small blue spot in the SW corner. Didn’t notice that when I posted to you. I lived about 90 miles north of you from ‘93 to 2000, in Dyersburg. And yes, Memphis is what, Crock County South (Chicago) or as you said, like Detroit.
Is Beal Street no longer safe to visit?

"formerly solid Republican California was over-whelmed post-WWII by emigration from the East Coast."
Don't forget the harsh winters the northeast had in the 70's. Around SoCal in the SF valley, NY license plates were suddenly a dime a dozen, and Jewish delicatessens sparted popping up all over Ventura Blvd in west San Fernando valley.
Place went to hell politically shortly after with Boxer and such.

If you check out NJ on that map you can see that most of the state voted Republican. Matter of fact the entire county of Atlantic went red.
If not for Camden County, and Newark, Patteron, and Elizabeth it would have gone all red.

My old home Tri-Lakes. I will forever hate Democrats for what they did there.
But they did gift Whitney Park to the Sierra Club as a private retreat. So there’s that! /s

I voted for McGovern, too! Then I graduated from college, got a job, started paying taxes, and veered very dramatically to the right. I was a disillusioned quasi-Dem for a really long time. What really prompted my escape, was getting married, buying a house, having kids in diapers, and running a small business. Too soon, I discovered that I was somehow 'the bad guy', and that I had a target on my back.
One day a customer had a conservative talk show playing, and it seemed like the host was speaking directly to me. Plank by plank, he shot holes in every liberal meme I'd ever heard. Within days, I was digging my under the razor wire.

Im still in a Blue County Travis,Austin TXbut it takes 5 lefties against me in a debate for them to even have a chance to break even in points. Man, I'm glad I left that sort of life behind years ago. I cut ties with every liberal I knew years and years back. Save for members of my immediate family, I don't have a single one in my social circle.
Back when I was still having knock-down-drag-out fights with libs, I used to get ganged up on like that. It's the only way they know how to fight. Get one alone, and they get angry and petulant, then start the name calling, because they're essentially unarmed.
In time, I just gave it up. I didn't seem to be changing any of their minds, and it was tiresome.
But, about five years ago, I was talking to a bunch of my liberal relatives and something funny happened. They all started listening. I mean, really - politely listening, and with great interest.
I didn't quite know how to react to their sudden shift to civility, but I kept on talking. I was really surprised at the questions they asked of me. They weren't combative or gotcha type questions, but sincere and curious. I was stunned.
About the only thing I could make of it, was that they'd wised up to the Obama Sham-Wow scam, and were finally realizing that maybe I was onto something.

My grandpa was a life long republican, but since he passed away he only votes democrat. I just saw an article that reported on the fact that most people neglect to have their deceased relatives removed from the voter roles, which leaves those names ripe for Dem voter fraud.
I hope that hasn't really happened to your family.

The reality is that Dems nearly everywhere are compacted into very small geographic areas. If Obola gets going bigtime, its gonna take out a disproportionate number of them due to contagion via compression.

Where are the maps that showed the map in 2012 to compare? Here's one, but it's for the Presidential race. Still looking for 2012 maps of the congressional races.

The tea party idea is alive and well and hard to identify in many cases. That's why the Rats hate it so much. Yep. Those doggone stealth patriots!!!

I think a lot of the Democrat get out the vote effort got young FORMER democrat voters to the polls. Either that, or the Democrat GOTV efforts reminded disillusioned Dem voters just WHO's been screwing them these last six years, and they stayed home out of protest.
I saw DUers moaning about the poor turnout of their base last night. Poor sods couldn't seem to put their finger on the answer to that mystery.

Many of our family members are liberals. Fortunately, most of them have moved south. Moved south to where? Northern Virginia?
