GOP’s McConnell promises no more shutdowns over ObamaCare
The Hill ^ | October 17, 2013 | Alexander Bolton

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says he will not allow another government shutdown as part of a strategy to repeal ObamaCare.

McConnell (Ky.) told The Hill in an interview Thursday afternoon that his party learned a painful political lesson over the past 16 days, as its approval rating dropped while the government was shuttered.

He said there’s no reason to go through the political wringer again in January, when the stopgap measure Congress passed late Wednesday is set to expire.

“One of my favorite old Kentucky sayings is there’s no education in the second kick of a mule. The first kick of a mule was when we shut the government down in the mid-1990s and the second kick was over the last 16 days,” he said. “There is no education in the second kick of a mule. There will not be a government shutdown.

“I think we have fully now acquainted our new members with what a losing strategy that is,” he added.

McConnell said that even though he and many other Republicans “hate, detest and despise ObamaCare,” they are not going to be able to repeal it unilaterally while Democrats control the White House and the Senate....

What did McConnell have to do with anything that happened in the last month? If the House passes continuing resolutions with no funding for Obama Care what is McConnell going to do about it?

McConnell and his ilk were irrelevant in the last month. There was a battle going on between the House and the President/Senate for the constitutional powers of the House. McConnell and most of the rest of the GOP Senators other than Cruz and Lee who rallied the House to act were merely spectators.

You are right. But I think the point he's trying to make is that he is the leader of the republican party, NOT Cruz.

If Meemaw McConnell said this after Ace McCain said essentially the same thing, then maybe he's also trying to make it clear that he is the leader of the Republican Party, not John McCain. There may be no honor among thieves but there sure as hell is a pecking order.

Here's what the bastard did...

McConnell Debt Plan: Press Release Conservatism

Section 1002 of the bill provides for McConnell’s infamous resolution of disapproval. Basically, within three weeks of the President’s official request for a debt limit increase (until Feb 7, 2014 in this case), Congress can force a vote to disapprove of the request. There’s one problem, though. That resolution must pass with 2/3ds majorities in both houses.

After Obama gave Kentucky $2,000,000,000, he liked the idea of increasing the country’s debt. What a bald faced crook.

Harry Reid to Mitch McConnell: Would you sleep with me for $100 dollars?

Mitch: Are you nuts? I am no prostitute.

Harry: How about for 3 Billion dollars?

Mitch: Do you prefer the red teddie or the garter belt?

Good point! I still think they collaborated the mantra of the day (or week or month). Those two are 2 peas in a pod.

Secondly, Harry Reid did not allow the House bill to keep the government from shutting down be voted on in the Senate. Why? Because if it didn't pass the Senate would be the blame for the Shutdown.

Harry Reid thinks not voting for the House bill to keep the government from shutting down is by default the House shutting down government. Well, he's wrong and this fact needs to be driven home. Unfortunately, you have McConnell, McCain and other RINOs in the Senate aiding the democrats with their lie. They need to go.
