Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Penn., is "confident," he said Sunday on "Face the Nation," that he and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will be able to muster enough Republican support in the Senate to pass an amendment that would expand background checks for gun purchases.

"We're close," said Toomey said, appearing with Manchin. "We're discussing with colleagues on both sides. We've got bipartisan support, but there is bipartisan opposition."

Toomey and Manchin, along with Sens. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., and Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., announced last week they had struck the deal, which would expand background checks for gun purchases to all commercial sales - including at gun shows and via the Internet.

On Saturday, Maine Sen. Susan Collins became the third Republican to back the proposal, which will appear as an amendment to the current gun safety bill being mulled by the Senate; Toomey said others have unofficially committed.

"It's very hard to say what amendments may succeed and which may fail," Toomey conceded. But, he added, "ours, I think, just strikes the right balance....

Joe doe not get it. I ask this question: If a kid is willing to kill his own mother, how do we expect him to worry about any government gun laws?

These ass hats can start planning for their “un-employment” checks to start arriving sometime shortly after the 2014 elections.

If EVERY legal gun owner in this country decided to vote for something collectively, there would be very little of this crap taking place as every damn one of those politicians would clearly see THEIR END, as an elected politician, is near.

Before passing anything new, as no law currently has been effective, rescind all laws already on the books. Baseline. Then find what works.
