You know what? Maybe you can tell me where I'm going wrong, but how about an instant background check on the individual, which he/she can appeal if they say it is incorrect, and then that background check is destroyed after that purchase unless the BUYER doesn't want it to be? Why? Because they only want to register your guns. You can not tell what a persons future behavior will be, but you can look at their past. If things are ok, no felonies, psycho behavior, given them their gun. Then destroy the record and get out of their life. But Democrats see even this as not going far enough, so there's no compromise, we must fight gun control.

A formal registration system, or not, only makes a difference now in this transitional period from constitutional govt to tyranny. Once the govt decides to pull out the stops and go after the guns, data-mining makes it easy to know who owns what, based on credit card records, posts on forums like this, etc. SNA, or "social network analysis," was pioneered by our side in Iraq as a key intel tool. It's now used by the boys and girls down in the fusion centers every day. When they are given the order, they'll be able to make their confiscation lists in one day.

Unless, of course, they remember that oath they took to defend the Constitution, including ALL of the Bill of Rights. But that's a rather slim hope.
