While what Gingrich is saying at this moment sounds nice, he’s done that a lot before, and it didn’t stop him from being taken in by Leftist ideologues.
For me, his current attempts to pass himself off as a Conservative to the core, is too little too late.
I just can’t trust the guy. I’m not going to vote for Romney, but Newt sucks too IMO.
Newt’s true colors have always been vividly apparent to conservatives and his scandals are well known to all. He has the experience and the battle scars to prove it. It’s all in the record.
I like Perry, but he’s having a bit of trouble with his feet and tongue. Can’t figure out which goes where, and ends up stepping on, stumpling over, tying up, or shooting off both. Other than that, he’s a good Christian man and successful, well liked governor of a great state!!
Wish him nothing but the best. Hope he gets that tongue fixed.
He’s an animal lover too.
He took his dog on vacation even if it meant putting him in the luggage carrier on top of his car.
I can’t stand that man. !!
I caught that... but understandable that some of the others didn’t ;)
thanks for the kind words about Perry, Jim.
I hope that both he and Newt get their tongues fixed. I hope that Newt doesn’t express every thought that passes through his head and do something to shoot himself in the foot. It’s a definite possibility.
I’m serious. I hope he doesn’t. We’ve got to beat Obama and keep Romney out of the race.
But I think Perry talks pretty good.
Yeah, I had to pick one so I picked the original.
One thing is sure, I am soooo happy to see Romney flaming out.
Well, Newt steered a pretty steady course to the Reagan Revolution which directly took on and brought down the Soviet Union. We win, they lose. And then steered a pretty steady course to the Speakership and successfully led a Republican majority (after wandering in the godless liberal wilderness for forty years). And then steered a pretty steady course to cut the deficit, cut our taxes, balance the budget, block HillaryCare, reform welfare, block much of Clinton’s agenda, and bring us the two decades long Reagan economy! Not bad for a cute little grey headed guy. Wish our current congressional guys had at least half the vision, knowledge, experience, determination, sheer guts, drive and aggressive fighting ability that Newt has. Maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess. Or at least not as deeply into it.
I’m glad that you got it back! Along with your original sign up. I view the 97/98 sign ups as “old timers” that “paved the way” and saw Jim’s creation for what it is....even back then.
Well, I’m used to Texas talk and kind of like it. Love Texas. Shouldn’t make fun of Perry’s stumbling, but he did make some serious mistakes with the vaccine program and the in-state tuition thing, and then calling conservatives heartless for not agreeing. That was unfortunate, as was his well known debate stumbles. He may be able to pull out of it, but it’s going to take some Texas sized fighting. Hope he’s up to it.
No one was forced to do anything.
Re: picture in #66.
That is one great picture
“But the effort to combat disease and illness requires greater cooperative efforts between our two nations. It is a simple truth that disease knows no boundaries. An outbreak of drug-resistant tuberculosis, for example, endangers citizens of both our nations. We have much to gain if we work together to expand preventative care, and treat maladies unique to this region.”
Although Perry was a brand new Governor (August 2001) at the time he gave this speech, his vision and foresight exhibited Presidential qualities.
And although I know you would never do such a thing, I’ve always found it fascinating that his detractors will cherry pick this speech and use lines from it, taken out of context, to disparage the Governor.
Absolutely, that is job #1!
Please note that altura called the people I pinged a ‘bunch of idiots’.
PERRY: Why would I leave being governor of the state of Texas to be vice president?
BLITZER: You’re just in next line to be president of the United States?
PERRY: — very powerful statement about that. Being vice president is not worth a bucket of warm spit.
I don’t think he would take a VP spot over being Governor of Texas.
If it has to be an “old white haired guy” then I’ll take Newt! :) The only scenario that I can see where Romney gets the nomination is if it turns into a marathon. In terms of resources, it’s down to Perry and Newt to beat Romney.
