I think it was Newt’s turn to speak first, and Cain realized that after he began to address the question. As CEO he understands Medicare well.
When it was Mr. Cain’s turn, he covered the subject very knowledably in more detail that Newt did, and more understandably.
Mind you, as a critic, I am judging how many people would receive what either man said, and how they said it.
Upon reflection having watched the event, it is clear that of all the candidates qho could face the establishment congress, Newt is the most capable of herding them and making points with the American people even in an environment of an ‘enemies of the Republic’ media. This is one of the improvements in Newt, that he can now face off with the scummy lying media and put them in their place.
He did say something to that effect. He realized it was Newt’s turn that time.

I was being smarmy to someone who is more interested in attacking Cain over their own perceptions, than realizing they were mistaken and not paying attention enough to truly understand what actually happened....somehow Cain is not ready for the White House because this guy didn’t know what happened, nor did this guy know what the words meant, so he assumed Cain didn’t either....
egos sure do get in the way of a lot of folks ability to learn and grow...

I would love to believe that, but I think it is the opposite. Impressions are more important. Not many people ever remember the content of the answer, but they remember if the candidate seemed and talked confidently.
Do you remember the actual answers by Newt/Herman for that question? I didn’t think so either.
This is not Lincoln/Douglas era anymore. For example, Nixon sweating, and Al Gore’s stupid posturing in debates meant much more than the actual answers they gave. Most people do not really understand details anyway.
i think Cain was for talking to the doctors, the hospitals, the patients and then coming up with some solutions. I think he mentioned that costs of a doctor’s care would come down aoppreciably with tort reform.....loser pay all. And Mr. Cain had a standing ovation for that.
