Exactly. Also the huge mess of the natural gas pipeline.

She has ideas and doesn’t know how to make them work. She spouts slogans, but offers no solutions.

We already have a guy in office like that. We need someone else. I am not even saying Bachmann is that person. I see her also as a person with ideas...she offers solutions, but doesn’t seem to be able to push them through. she also has no military experience or knowledge.

I am losing hope. I think I would like Condi Rice.

Part of the problem is that her ideas do not seem to reflect an in depth knowledge of the issues she is addressing.

Bacjhmann's ideas seem to reflect a much deeper knowledge of the issues than do Palin's, but I do see your point about the proven ability to implement those ideas. I think that the key is to have strong coattails and come into office with a clear governing mandate. In a democratic political system, the ability to get the public behind your ideas trumps managerial competence when it comes to effectively implementing one's ideas and solutions. The first step is to have a clear vision and campaign on it so as to get public opinion behind your proposed agenda. Winning majorities in the House and Senate would be a big help as well.

The problem with most technocrats is that they come into office based on the promise that they can "make the trains run on time", and do not offer the public a vision to get behind. That is fine as long as the country is already headed in the right direction and is following a sound vision. The problem is that we are way off course and are following a destructive vision. It is going to take a charismatic visionary to change our course and sell the public on a new vision. Once that is done, a technocrat could follow in the visionary's footsteps and consolidate those gains. If the visionary has managerial competence as well, that would be ideal.
