Just announced today that John Boehner is coming to give a speech in support of Corwin who IMHO is a RINO. So I guess birds of a feather... etc. etc.
Please define a New York Republican.
Same as a California Republican (Tom McClintock excepted)
Yup, it's utterly pathetic. The problem is there are a lot of people that are willing to waste their vote on a 3rd party candidate. Each election cycle, even right here on FR, there are lots of people that flush their votes down the crapper by voting for libertarian or other 3rd party candidates who have no chance to win and only serve to split the right of center vote.
The real Tea Party groups work WITHIN the framework of the Republican party. As of a rule of thumb, 3rd party "Tea Party" candidates are just democrat plants designed to siphon off some Republican vote. The Democrats did this on a large scale in 2010 and will be doing it on a MASSIVE scale on 2012.
We already lost one congressional seat in NY due to 3rd party interference, let us hope people have learned their lesson and don't squander their votes on Democrat deception operations.
As a New Yorker......its simply a democrat who couldn't move up in the democratic party, and switches to the GOP where there is less competition.
See every single republican that is known in New York (from Rudy, to Bloomberg, to even whats his name who ran for Governor and lost to Cuomo).
THe first time it was justified Dede Scozzafava WAS A DEMOCRAT/PROGRESSIVE in sheep’s clothing (she was endorsed by DKos afterall)..
That description describes the current Republican (aka RINO) Party. All through the mid to late nineties and early 00's that was the only way a Democrat could stay in office and many in the Republican welcomed them in with wide open arms. Never mind the destruction they would heap upon the GOP as was being predicted by the conservative base, only thing that mattered at the time was that there would be more R's than there were D's on capitol hill.
The blue blood country club 'R' party made its bed and now they are having to lie in it.
New york republican party is a mess.
... and Maryland... and Nevada....
You are absolutely correct and we would not have Obamacare right now if it weren't for those 3,000 "third party" voters in MN. Sure, the RATS committed fraud but they would not have been successful without the help of the "third partiers".
I have nothing but contempt for them.
It would have been a heck of a lot easier to prevent Obamacare from ever happening than trying to get rid of it.
That was the first time Hoffman ran, and yes Scozzafava was so bad the much of the conservative/Tea Party establishment collectively turned against her. The problem is Hoffman did it AGAIN in 2010 and was listed as the NY conservative candidate. He got 6% of the vote and made no serious effort to make sure conservative/Tea Party folks cast their ballots for the Republican Matt Doheny. The result, Democrat Owens won by 2%. Hoffman acted as a spoiler and cost us that seat. And now some NY dunderheads will undoubtedly waste their votes again on another 3rd party candidate.
Yup, absolute contempt. I agree 100% with you. It is simply infuriating that people waste their votes like this.
Movement conservatives and TEA party folks are, for the most part, correctly pushing the Republican party to the right WITHIN the GOP structure. This is good. We should be running the most conservative candidates than have a chance to win a general election, collectively vote for them in the primaries, and over time the Republican party is forced to the right.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few people who whine and cry that they didn't get who they wanted in the primaries so they take their ball and go home. These types waste their votes on 3rd party's and serve only to split the right of center vote and ensure Democrats win seats they otherwise shouldn't have.
And you know what's funny? These are the same people that scream and wail when RINO/"moderate" voters won't adequately support conservative candidates that win in the Republican primaries. The truth is, these factions are both equally pathetic. If they don't get their way they cry, complain, and refuse to step up to the plate and vote for the nominee facing off against the Democrat.
If it ain't broke--don't fix it and your strategy is 100 per cent correct and it's the very strategy that moved this country to the right in the last election.
It comes down to this, who would you rather have, Coleman or that moron, Franken? This is the realistic choice and shame on every one of those misled “third party” voters in MN. We would not be in this shape if it weren’t for them.
I agree, and that is why I didn’t mention the second time.
Sounds like another Dem. Tea Party plant. Hopefully Corwin’s ads are outing Davis.
A loss here would be an embarrassing setback. Corwin has started running negative ads against Jack Davis, reminding voters of Davis’s past support for liberal DemocRATS.

Good point, Dede Scozzafava was an ultraliberal John Lindsay type. Jane Corwin is nothing great, but still a real Republican.
Eh, there are plenty of California exceptions; Duncan Hunter comes to mind immediately.
