Sen. Rubio On Donald Trump’s Birtherism: ‘Why Are We Talking About This?’
Meiaite ^ | April 9, 2011 | Frances Martel

Posted on 04/09/2011 7:20:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

While the media is reveling in Donald Trump’s newfound status as Republican presidential candidate, not everyone on the right seems to understand why Trump has chosen President Barack Obama’s nationality as a battlefront. One voice opposed to spotlighting the “birther” issue is Sen. Marco Rubio, who wondered aloud this week how President Obama’s birthplace has become a legitimate campaign issue.

Speaking to the Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis, Sen. Rubio appeared genuinely puzzled that the President’s birthplace is still an issue so many years later. “There are more important things facing our country,” he noted. “What does that have to do with the $14 trillion we owe?” he asked, adding that the national debt– particularly with regard to China– is what “we should be focusing on like a laser.”

Compared to reactions from some possible 2012 frontrunners– including Mike Huckabee this morning– Sen. Rubio’s dismissive response to Trump comes almost as a surprise. Of course, unlike most people talking about Donald Trump on television and the internet, Sen. Rubio has a constituency to worry about, whether he runs for higher office or not, and the median voter has been proven time and again to care little for the birth certificate talk. Not to mention that, after a hellish week trying to agree on a national budget, a reality TV star griping about the possibility of the President being foreign-born may seem particularly trivial.

Then there’s the fact that Sen. Rubio may have enough in common with the President that, should he ultimately run for higher office, supporting foreign birth fears could come back to haunt him. Rubio has flatly denied rumors of being anywhere near the GOP presidential ticket in 2012, though at this stage of the horserace it is much more difficult to find someone admitting they are thinking about running than denying it. Perhaps 2012 may be too early for the first-term Senator, but if presidential ambitions are in Sen. Rubio’s future, it wouldn’t be unfathomable that an equally incomprehensible movement speculating about Rubio’s birthplace would form, too. If he runs in 2012, he will have the same amount of experience in the Senate as President Obama had when he won the presidency, and he would likely face a similar uphill battle with a certain sector of the population ethnically, too. After all, Rubio is the son of exiles and was born in Miami, Florida– tropical enough to arouse the brand of ill-placed, time-wasting paranoia Trump has made the centerpiece of his “presidential (?) campaign.”

So forget that 'helping the Dems' argument. That ploy is further over the hill than Karl Rove.

We’re talking about it because the media thinks it’s good for the Democrats. Simple as that.

You're right, of course. Trump does not make this a major focus of his campaign, but the media sure doesn't want to cover the other populist parts of Trumps agenda like America for Americans first.

But then along came The Donald and it all fell apart. We are talking about this because Trump has forced the media to pay attention to it and now the Dems are running scared. You can see it in their eyes and you can read on their blogs. This is war and they know it. It is simply naive to think that the Left doesn't fear that the BC issue will bite them. They know it as well as you and I.

And he's just getting started. He's going to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

“Seems like a hit piece on Rubio to me. “

It could be a media ‘two-fer’ on both Rubio and Trump. The media who don’t want to look into the question can’t seem to stop asking Trump now that he’s introduced it. They’re not pursuing his China tariff or Middle Eastern oil fields proposals. It’s all birth certificate all the time.

They are also trying to pin down every last Republican on this question now. From their view, to hold it against them later. Or to put them in the (crackpot) ‘birther’ box.

In the sense that the Tea Party lifted Rubio and brought him into office, he answer was exactly right. The issues that brought in the GOP were economic, not the BC questions. Can anyone think of a single candidate last Fall who ran on the BC question? Was there a single Tea Party candidate who didn’t run primarily on the econonmy?

If The Donald hadn’t made the BC a topic now permissible for discusseion in ‘proper company’ (i.e., the MSM), and Rubio himself had brought it up, he’d have been painted with the ‘birther’ brush and the people who wanted him to go to Washington to stop the Obama agenda and get the economy under control would have been mighty upset, asking Rubio “why are you talking about this?”

Excellent post.

I see it as if Trump pulls this off and pushes “the reset button” on the corruption of the government to this point.

He readily admits to contributions and connections to people like the Clintons, Rahmn, and city/state/federal offices at the price of doing business.

He will probably be somewhat liberal on some social policy.

But, he will get this country focused back to an America first, American exceptionalism, power to the entrepreneur, accountability of people. He will address China and OPEC in the manner they need to be dealt with.

For a VP candidate he goes for a military leader to bolster the publics confidence. Pray that Allen West is introduced to the American public as a dynamic young leader fit and ready to serve again.

This, along with a MASSIVE purge of career politicians on both sides at the election. The freshmen with a mandate to clean this mess up once and for all.

This would be huge. Trump would be written into the history
of the world as the one who exposed (what many of us thought all along) as the greatest fraud in history.

The BEST people to make an issue of Obama’s ineligibility (on account of his father’s non-citizenship) would be Jindal and Rubio. The two of them SHOULD announce that “I have no Presidential ambitions because I am not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States. I was born a citizen, but I am not a Natural Born Citizen.”

The next best thing would be for a conservative interviewer to surprise each of them by asking point-blank what he understands by the term “Natural Born Citizen,” and “Are you, then, a Natural Born Citizen?” and “Is Barack Obama, the son of a non-citizen, a Natural Born Citizen?”

I’m not disappointed in him. I think he probably has a natural curiousity, like most of us. However, he’s very much knee-deep in the budget battles. This is his priority, and I can’t fault him for that.

Neither do I fault Trump for taking up the mantra of the BC. Each has his/her own role to play.

Rubio is ok in my book, and even if he does things I don’t agree with, he’s a thousand times better than Charlie Crist would’ve been.

We can’t have 100% perfection in people, we are flawed human beings. Only Jesus was and is perfect, but, I tend to think that some on here probably find fault with him as well. (sigh)

Super-Accurate!

#1. Chester A. Arthur knew he was not an NBC because his father was not an American citizen at the time of his birth. He spent his whole life lying his assoff about it, deliberately hiding the documentation, and burned his records before his death, That's #1,

#2 is the present resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He has NEVER claimed that he is a "Natural Born citizen." That's because he's knows more about Chester Arthur than either you or I, or possibly even Lawyer Donofrio.

What this fellow has done instead, is spend millions to convince the country that (1) He was born in Hawaii and is therefore (2)a NATIVE born citizen and that (3)NATIVE=NATURAL.

Hence the "Birther" controversy. It is unproven that he was born in Hawaii, but possible. All he has to do is present the documentation, which of course he refuses to do. It is absolutely impossible that he is a "Natural Born Citizen," as he well knows, because his legal father appears to have been a foreigner, although technically, that is not proven either.

It would appear that he has operated under a name not 100% legally his. as a minor child, he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro. At that time, his name was legally changed and his original BC amended. Upon his subsequent return to the US, that "Soetoro" name was never legally changed back. He was asked to voluntarily "retire" from the State of Illinois Bar, after, but not necessarily because, he was discovered to have lied about using another name on his Bar Application.*

Quite a guy we got here. Who, or what TF is he?

Traditionally, when a state bar catches a fraudulent application, they offer the cheat a chance to resign without a fight. In exchange they seal the record of the dispute and the guy can never practice law again.BTW, Michelle was also struck from the Bar by a court-ordered suspension. Move along. Nothing to see here!

Just to cut through all the post-modern bullshiite, a "Natural Born American Citizen" is someone born to two American citizens on territory subject to American jurisdiction. No dual citizenship. No equivocation. Obama had the choice upon reaching his majority of choosing Indonesian, British, Kenyan, or American* citizenship. a "Natural Born Citizen" could have no such choice, being exclusively American.

*Indonesian through adoption by Lolo Soetoro; British or Kenyan, through his alleged although legally recognized birth father; and American, if he was indeed born in Hawaii.

This is essentially a rather simple story, complicated, obfuscated, twisted, spun, and confused by a masterful public relations campaign whose sole purpose is to mislead enough voters to win an election.

If it works twice, it is a casus belli against those stupid enough to be fooled twice.

It is FACT that Jindal’s parents were not citizens at time of bobby jindal birth. Rubio is still hiding the info on his exile parents. It is believed that Rubio’s parents were not citizens at time of Rubio birth.

Conservatives hold the Constitution in such high regard that we would rightfully say Jindal and/or Rubio fail the Constitutional test to be President.

Six other presidents have had foreign-born parents:
http://community.myvoa.com/_The-Seventh-US-President-with-a-Foreign-Born-Parent/blog/137360/45137.html

Only six other U.S. presidents had a foreign-born parent. Mr. Obama will be the first in nearly ninety years, since President Herbert Hoover was inaugurated in 1929.

Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) is the only president born of two immigrants, both Irish. Presidents with one immigrant parent are Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), whose mother was born in England, James Buchanan (1857-1861) and Chester Arthur (1881-1885), both of whom had Irish fathers, and Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) and Herbert Hoover (1929-1933), whose mothers were born respectively in England and Canada.

Listen up Rubio. The Donald can’t drop this issue now, because the left would beat him to death with it. He owns the birther issue now, and good on him for it. Barry is dirty to the core. If he had a legitimate BC, he would have produced it, and he wouldn’t have a bogus SS#. Politicians have become so elitist they hate challenging one of their own, but the Donald doesn’t care.

You say: “ I don’t see any outstanding presidential candidates from the Republican party (but I’m not sure, since I haven’t followed a Republican presidential primary in depth before 2008.) “

Enjoy! :o)

If we look to the GOP Establishment for our candidates, we will lose this country.

WE THE PEOPLE need to stand up and chose our ‘alternative.”

You want some who would “aggressively reassert American interests and discipline on the rouge states...” etc.

LOOK OUTSIDE THE BOX - NOT to the Establishment.

You want someone who knows who are enemies are “Foreign and domestic” - and who will name them and who will fight them - and who our enemies will FEAR?

How about someone who knows our Constitution backward and foreward? How about someone who loves this country and also knows the Bible through and through? How about someone who knows Islam line by line and will face them down - and political correctness be damned? How about someone with decades of leadership and a proved record of standing firm, even at great personal loss, for what he knows is right?

Would you like a person like that? Or just another good ole boy from the worn out list of Establishment candidates? That REALLY worked out great for us in 2008, didn’t it.

How many of you can think outside of the box?

Here’s just a few clip to think about - but while on YouTube, watch more on this man. (Israel wishes he could run for their Prime Minister.)

CLEAN HOUSE -

Save these clips in a desktop file and email everyone and post everywhere. The Establishment is afraid of Lt. Col West. The muzzies are. The demRats are and are doubly troubled because how do they use their favorite weapon: “RACIST! “

This man would hit the ground running - he’s a seasoned leader, he backs down to no one, He loves this country and will defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, “Foreign AND domestic.”

Throughout history, at it’s darkest moments, a leader will appear unexpectedly - “the man and the Time have met”
