Sen. Rubio On Donald Trump’s Birtherism: ‘Why Are We Talking About This?’
Meiaite ^ | April 9, 2011 | Frances Martel

Posted on 04/09/2011 7:20:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

While the media is reveling in Donald Trump’s newfound status as Republican presidential candidate, not everyone on the right seems to understand why Trump has chosen President Barack Obama’s nationality as a battlefront. One voice opposed to spotlighting the “birther” issue is Sen. Marco Rubio, who wondered aloud this week how President Obama’s birthplace has become a legitimate campaign issue.

Speaking to the Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis, Sen. Rubio appeared genuinely puzzled that the President’s birthplace is still an issue so many years later. “There are more important things facing our country,” he noted. “What does that have to do with the $14 trillion we owe?” he asked, adding that the national debt– particularly with regard to China– is what “we should be focusing on like a laser.”

Compared to reactions from some possible 2012 frontrunners– including Mike Huckabee this morning– Sen. Rubio’s dismissive response to Trump comes almost as a surprise. Of course, unlike most people talking about Donald Trump on television and the internet, Sen. Rubio has a constituency to worry about, whether he runs for higher office or not, and the median voter has been proven time and again to care little for the birth certificate talk. Not to mention that, after a hellish week trying to agree on a national budget, a reality TV star griping about the possibility of the President being foreign-born may seem particularly trivial.

Then there’s the fact that Sen. Rubio may have enough in common with the President that, should he ultimately run for higher office, supporting foreign birth fears could come back to haunt him. Rubio has flatly denied rumors of being anywhere near the GOP presidential ticket in 2012, though at this stage of the horserace it is much more difficult to find someone admitting they are thinking about running than denying it. Perhaps 2012 may be too early for the first-term Senator, but if presidential ambitions are in Sen. Rubio’s future, it wouldn’t be unfathomable that an equally incomprehensible movement speculating about Rubio’s birthplace would form, too. If he runs in 2012, he will have the same amount of experience in the Senate as President Obama had when he won the presidency, and he would likely face a similar uphill battle with a certain sector of the population ethnically, too. After all, Rubio is the son of exiles and was born in Miami, Florida– tropical enough to arouse the brand of ill-placed, time-wasting paranoia Trump has made the centerpiece of his “presidential (?) campaign.”

Rubio is a really attractive RINO. Loves amnesty!

However, he is NOT, repeat, no way José, no chance, a "Natural Born Citizen." He ought to STFU about this, like Jindal, who is at least smart enough to know that he is also not an "NBC," despite what the toadies and the lickspittles of the RNC tell him.

Work on that Senator thing, Rubio. Maybe run for Governor. You ain't eligible for POTUS. One impostor every 150 year is our limit.

The reason we talk about this is the fact that the man should never have been President and the people who engineered this evil need to be gone from government forever. We need to know just how corrupt government really is and this would be a big step to make things right. Problem is that so many do not care to correct the evil of government, if they did there would have been an overthrow of the corrupt public school system long ago.

“It is FACT that Jindal’s parents were not citizens at time of bobby jindal birth. Rubio is still hiding the info on his exile parents. It is believed that Rubio’s parents were not citizens at time of Rubio birth.”

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Conservatism demands intellectual honesty.

And Rubio is NOT being honest about the circumstances of his “citizenship”.

He’s probably no more Constitutionally qualified to be president than is Obama.

Same for Jindal.

Rules is rules. Why do we [rightly] attack Obama on this subject, but why are many in this forum so willing to give Jindal and/or Rubio the free pass?

Rubio should stay out of this...unless he has nothing to hide! Obumma has so much to hide that he has spent $2 million to keep it hidden! Facts can be obtained at RewardForObamasBirthCertificate.com if you are interested.

"Not Good. And Hannity said he will be President someday."

I have to say this is a strike against Rubio. But, on the other hand, pretty much everyone else has this strike against them too.
You are right. That's why I've been saying if Trump triumphs on the eligibility issue, he has earned the presidency.

I'm not saying he's conservative. And I have no idea if he'll make a good president.

But when everyone else is a eunuch, the one with balls deserves the job. Period.

I appreciate how someone in the GOP might not want to spend any time on the NBC issue, but I don't understand the complete lack of curiosity or the lack of Constitutional concern or not backing up that lack of concern by citing, as we often see here, some case that he feels substantiates his position.

If this is account is accurate, I am disappointed by Senator Rubio.

The voice of the ruling republican elite, “we have more important issues to deal with then this”.

And by this saying we will know who they are, even if they are radio talk show.

I remember the “stop Hillary express.” I knew Zero was a much greater threat. All Hill and Bill were were greedy criminals. They would throw their country over for a buck, but they didn’t hate it (and us).

"Skip to comments. Sen. Rubio On Donald Trump’s Birtherism: ‘Why Are We Talking About This?’"

Two reasons:
1. Trump gets much needed publicity for his Presidential run.
2. Obama is an illegitimate President and those with testosterone in their scrotum aren't afraid to say it.

The scamming Obama is a media and Soros puppet, they use each other like a three man tag-team. Soros pulls the marionette strings, Obama does the tapdance, the media keep his identity and background covered up like an illegal Mexican covering his trail at the Rio Grande. What do they all have in common? They detest the traditional/historical America, and all of its white male patristic, Christian ways. These maggots are Communists, socialists, perverts of all stripes. The media are flush with homosexual deviates, feminists and clinging maggots, Soros wants to control the world, and Obama hates "rich white men", (just like his spiritual advisor, Mr. Wright). Obama also loves to bask his narcissistic ego in all the fame and glory like a little boy who just won a chance to throw a real pitch in a major league baseball game.

While it really is great that the Donald is going after this issue, I'm not willing to go quite that far. But, in his favor, I don't see any outstanding presidential candidates from the Republican party (but I'm not sure, since I haven't followed a Republican presidential primary in depth before 2008.)

To be honest, though, I have a hard time seeing Obama being voted out of office, where he'd spend the rest of his life golfing and eating ice-cream. It's not that I don't think America would vote him out. It's just that I see massive voting fraud and corruption keeping him in if there are elections. Who knows what could happen by 2012? What if we are struck by a major terrorist attack or if there is a nuclear war made possible by Iran's future attainment of nuclear weapons? Would Obama suspend elections? I know this sounds rather alarmist (really, I'm not the alarmist type), but I have a hard time envisioning Obama getting voted out and living as a private citizen.

The 14th amendment contains the citizenship clause that has been consistently interpreted by both congress and the supreme court to confer, except in few cases that do not in any way apply to Obama, Jindal or Rubio, citizenship to a child upon birth within the borders of the US. It does not rest upon parents being citizens in any way.

See Elk v. Wilkins and U.S. v. Kim Wong Ark.

Hannity doesn’t care. As long as they have an “R” next to their name.

Make that two. By your definition Chester Arthur wasn’t a Natural Born Citizen either. His father was born in Canada.

We’re talking about it because the media thinks it’s good for the Democrats. Simple as that.

I think that was Plan A. That one worked for quite awhile.

But then along came The Donald and it all fell apart. We are talking about this because Trump has forced the media to pay attention to it and now the Dems are running scared. You can see it in their eyes and you can read on their blogs. This is war and they know it. It is simply naive to think that the Left doesn't fear that the BC issue will bite them. They know it as well as you and I.

So forget that 'helping the Dems' argument. That ploy is further over the hill than Karl Rove.

Scary thoughts, and they’re all possible, though thankfully not all likely.

As for Trump being President, I’m not saying I like the idea, though I would vote for him (and almost anyone) over the kenyan kommunist.

All I’m saying is that if Trump pulls this off, really gets the goods on the kenyan, then he is immediately imbued with an absolutely unstoppable momentum.

I really can’t imagine him losing the presidency if he wins this issue, really wins it, obviously wins it in a big way. I’m not sure how to define that win in advance, since how can I know the details of what’s going to come out.

But I’m sure of one thing, if Trump pulls this off, he will be the first big American hero of the 21st century, and one of the biggest hero’s in all of American history. How can that status, combined with his money, not add up to “next President of the United States”?

And obviously he knows that and obviously he’s going for it.
