That’s great that you were friends. Have always loved that show, as far-fetched as it was. My late father was in World War II (Marine-Pacific theatre) and he liked it, too.
My Dad was a vet too and he always watched the show. Werner, for whatever reason, preferred to talk about his film career. He told my husband and I many stories about Spencer Tracy and Vivien Leigh when he worked on “Ship of Fools.”
Werner was a kind man and very, very funny.
