Limbaugh Ranks Palin, Christie in Tie Atop List for 2012 Presidential Candidates
NewsMax ^ | November 1, 2010

Firebrand conservative Rush Limbaugh ranks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a tie at 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 when asked to rate a list of the leading 2012 Republican presidential candidates, according to a Newsweek report. Limbaugh, who is on Newsweek’s cover this week for ranking first on a “Power 50” list of pundits and politicos, contends that a continued "hell-no" strategy is required to achieve the goals of the grass-roots conservative tea party movement.

Limbaugh’s other rankings:

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour: 7 Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty: tied at 6 Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: 4

the reason why I would rank them highly is because both are willing to fight back. They take the frontline and first to charge in. The rest seem to hide in the background and snipe from afar and occasionally backstab fellow gop

eh, I got to disagree with Rush a little bit, I don't think Romney and Newt are equal, and no matter what, Christie isn't going to run anyway.

I would also have liked to have seen where he would have ranked Mitch Daniels, and or Mike Pence as possible contenders.

Pretty good but I think I’d rank Barbour ahead of Pawlenty/Romney/Gingrich (in terms of preference).

Mr. DeMint has said, expressly, that he will not be a candidate for the presidency in 2012.

In some sense, that's too bad. In another sense, sitting Senators who have been elected President have uniformly been disasters: Harding, Kennedy, Zerobama. Kennedy gets out of the 'disaster' class ONLY for his quite imaginative and anti-FDR tax cuts. The other disaster from the Senate was of course Lyndon Johnson, who, while succeeding to the presidency as a sitting VP, had spent his whole career in national politics as a Senator from Texas.

Methinks Mr. DeMint is a fine student of American history, and more power to him.

No Romney

No Gingrich

But lets vote this baby first.

MORE THAN A THUMPIN'

Obama says Dems are in trouble because Americans aren't thinking clearly. He's delusional.

Time to put the federal beast back into its cage.

Forget the polls, forget the media spin. Go to the ballot box and put an end to the Dem Party on November 2, 2010.

Throw this putrid congress out on their heads.

Are You Ready to Vote-6sm

This ain't going to end well for these Statists

“Jim DeMint”

Yes, and Jindal. Leave Huckabee OFF for sure. Pawlenty? Not gonna happen. Rush is very good, but he missed the mark on at least a couple.

Just saw Romney on one of the Fox shows tonight - he’s running, no doubt in my mind. He’s talking like he’s moving to the ‘right’ - talking up Tea Party and mentioning with disdain Obama and his ‘fellow travelers’ in DC; not exactly hidden code for ‘communists.’

He was pointedly asked about differences in Romney-care in MA and Obamacare and had some good answers — definitely many differences between the two including that Romney-care was/is not mandatory nor intended to be. Of course MA is a relatively small state, too.

He said all the right things, “Obamacare must be REPEALED.”

He’s not my candidate, but I’m pretty sure from what he said and the way he said it that he has every intention of running — said he and wife Ann will talk about this after the new year and see how they feel about it then.

Did not make Rush's list.

It was not Rush's list, it was the Newsweek reporter's list:

I recently asked him to rate a list of the leading aspirants—Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, and Chris Christie—on a scale of 1 (if this is the nominee, I’m moving to Costa Rica) to 10 (Reagan redux). In reply he gave Huckabee a 4; Pawlenty, Gingrich, and Romney 6’s; Barbour a 7. Palin and Christie each scored an 8.

Whatever wing of the Republican Party that is for gay marriage is the only wing Romney belongs in.

I don't think Rush should have given Newsweek the time of day. They are a despicable organization. By ranking all these people, Rush ended up giving them a prioritized enemies list.

It wasn’t his list I don’t think, he was given names to rank.
