Being in the Establishment is about power and being able to trade favors. Castle, a long-standing Establishment pol, had a large bank of favors he’s granted, and favors he owed. With his defeat, Castle’s political account is busted. All those connections carefully made over the years are not worth as much as they would have been. The people in the Establishment who were invested in Castle are pissed.
