It's easy to see what happened in Idaho -- we're paying bigtime for these open primaries. Walt Minnick, the incumbent, currently only has 8,415 votes, meaning that many, many Democrats used the Republican primary ballot, and voted for Labrador. With Labrador on the Republican ticket in November, the Democrats win either way.

US Representative, District 1
DEM Walt Minnick 8,415 100.0%
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REP Harley D. Brown 2,334 3.9%
REP Michael L. Chadwick 4,088 6.8%
REP Raul R. Labrador 27,461 45.9%
REP Allan M Salzberg 1,811 3.0%
REP Vaughn Ward 24,152 40.4%

I'd bet Labrador got less than 5000 votes from actual Republicans.

This would be one of the few districts I would like to see the Republican run as an independent in the general election. Minnick and Labrador would split the Democrat vote, and Vaughn Ward could actually win the race as an independent.
