He is a "moderate" (call it RINO or whatever you want) and quite obviously tried to steer the GOP further to the "center" (speak left). Therefore he has to be nice and "bipartisan" and politcally correct. But Conservatives would have none of it, and Steele, underestimating the power of Limbaugh and the Conservative movement, had to backtrack.
I don't see a deliberate brilliant effort by Steele. He thought he could get away with "leftening" the GOP, but caught hell for doing so.
David Frum is merely a gnat, wh0ring up to the liberal media on the expense of Conservatives. He is a smaller than life-size nuissance taken seriously by the half dozen people reading Newsweak.
Ditto for Meghan McCain. She is an airhead that wants to be seen on TeeVee. Nothing more. They fancy themselves to be part of a "new moderate" movement, but they are not. They are being used as toys by the left, and rejected by the right.
I agree, Solidwood. Steele has not blundered as part of a grand plan to bring out the lib rage. But his shaky start might be a consequence that will benefit our side, just as the Rush fiasco has doubled his listenership and strengthened the Conservative movement.
Meghan McCain showed her liberal leanings all during the campaign. Now she is wanting her fifteen minutes of fame. She is an embarrassment: and if her father has any influence, he should oonfine her to blogging with her liberal twenty something friends.
Her latest is that she is whining about Laura Ingraham calling her fat. Give me a break. Did W complain about the vitriol from the left that was being spewed about him during his entire Presidency? Miss McCain might take a lesson from him on how to turn the other cheek and handle criticism with grace.
