I understand your pessimism. The fact that we can deal with high gas prices without panic is because we have done so well financially in recent years - not that you'd hear any of that from the mainstream media. We can afford it - barely - but most of us can. The problem is that it is so utterly unnecessary, and that Obama and his ilk would give us more - much more - of the same.

But there is a huge difference between taking away a man's cheap fuel and taking away his ability to defend his family. People do not act when they are inconvenienced - they act when their freedom is threatened and still possess the means to stop it. We do and we will.
