First, let me say that I am not giving up yet on Terri Schiavo.
However, if it turns out that she (unfortunately) dies, I want to put out a couple of theories about the fallout of this case. I welcome your comments.
My first theory is that those in Congress who voted against the legislation passed last Sunday will be made to "pay at the ballot box" for their vote (the ones who are up for re-election in 2006).
The vitriol that will undoubtedly arise from Terri's death, if properly focused, could give the GOP even larger majorities in the House and (perhaps) a "filibuster-proof" majority in the Senate.
Then, we can pressure our elected representatives to put Constitutional Originalists on Federal benches to hopefully prevent a replay of this kind of case in the future. Or atleast limit them.
My other theory kind of ties into this. Is it possible that God has brought Jeb Bush and Terri Schiavo "to the Kingdom for such a time as this"????
As much as it breaks my heart, is it perhaps God's will to actually take Terri home in order to effect change for the good of others in the future????
Again, I welcome your comments. I bring these theories to you because I feel at home among Freepers.
God bless.
So you are saying most people would want to live in a PVS?
Most people wouldn't want to die by starvation and dehydration. A drug overdose would be more appealing than that. What if you told the people "some doctors say your in a PVS and some doctors say you aren't. Would you choose to starve just in case the doctors that say you are PVS are right?" In that case I'm not so sure you can say most people would want to starve to death. It's not as cut and dried as you want it to be.
Yes, and No.
"I hope the Churches take a stand on this"
The mainstream churches have been coopted into the Left's immoral agenda. These can no longer be looked to as sources of or symbols of morality. The Marxist Left must be rejoicing that they certainly seem to have achieved their long range goal: the institutions of our society are crumbling, one by one, from the courts to the churches, from the media to the the schools. They infiltrated them one by one and now speak through them.
It's JOHN KERRY!
You just admitted polling can be wrong and has been. You proved my point.
How many doctors said she is in a PVS and how many say she isn't? I'm talking about doctors who saw her? Almost always doctors disagree. What's important is the ratio of yes and no.
LOL!!! I had 5 doctors tell me I didn't have a brain tumor and 1 tell me I did. I had brain surgery and had the tumor removed and saved my life. I guess I did the wrong damn thing!
No, I will try this again. Being off by 1 or 2 % is likely, being off by 13% is not. Is that easier?
What type of tumor?
What I would like to se is a debate on Bio-ethics and Euthanasia in general.
Since much of the debate is going on within the "green" and university/intellectual communities, relatively few conservatives have commented on it, other than in the abortion part of the debate. There are large segments of the green left that would embrace euthinasia on a massive scale. Some consider it ethically proper to withhold treatment for the elderly and handicapped children as a waste of resources in an overpopulated world. These same people would withhold care and health advancements to "primitive" peoples while, at the same time, insuring that their lives remain "primitive".
Genetically modified crops are opposed for a number of reasons, one of them being that many of the "greens" view starvation aas a means of limiting world popularions. These are the same folks that piss and moan about our over consumption and who push for a world tax. If there has ever been a strategy for neverending war and chaos, their's is it.
If you end up being dead going with the majority of doctors, I'd say your formula doesn't work out so well. But you certainly think like a doctor. The first five were pissed that I wanted another opinion. After all, they all agreed and they had learned your formula for being right. I saw one of those doctors after my brain surgery. He felt a wee bit foolish.
What type of tumor was it that 4 doctors missed?
Ganglioglyoma that was borderline malignant - the cells were starting to change. I'd had epilepsy for years. They did a right temporal lobectomy and a little bit extra to be sure they'd gotten all the tumor.
The ratio of yes and no is meaningless.
Terri's going to die without having had an MRI. Without having had a chance at new therapies for the disabled. Without even a freaking drink of water.
What was once unthinkable has now become the judicial mandate.
Truth is, the question, "Would you like to die by having all fluids and food withheld, no matter what condition you were in? I bet the majority would favor a bullet to the head over that. I know I would.
Probably a LIBERAL tumor.
I don't know?
I don't know what being in a PVS is like? Maybe it's like being on a constant good buzz from marjuana ...I don't know! Do you?
All I know, is I've worked with the Wheelchair Association in Ireland (where I live), and I've changed colostomy bags, etc. of people who are completely incapacitated..and who are completely mentally deficient...but I'd never say those people would will themselves to be dead when they are stimulated by different sights and sounds when we are on a trip away. Never. I'm glad you feel like you can speak for all the disabled in the world, though. I've yet to take on such omnipresence.
Well said Happygal! Doctors tend to think they know everything. They can even tell you what your symptoms are before you tell them you know.
