"I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy." - Time magazine cover story Aug 18, 2003. When interviewed on the issues by Sean Hannity on August 27th, Schwarzenegger admitted that he is for gun control. He said he supported both the Brady Bill and the ban on so-called "assault weapons." He said "also I would like to close the loophole of the gun shows." When asked by the Sacramento Bee to detail his positions on gun issues (scroll down), Arnold stated that he supports legislation to ban .50-caliber rifles, force gun buyers to pass a state-defined test in order to purchase a handgun, and require load indicators or magazine safety disconnects on new semiauto handguns.
Where does Arnold differ from Cruz?
"I support legislation to ban .50-caliber rifles, force gun buyers to pass a state-defined test to purchase handguns, and require load indicators or magazine safety disconnects on new semiauto handguns."
In these cases he favors outright bannings--no mincing of words at all. Don't you bother to read? Or do you just read the parts you like?
No crimes have been committeed EVER with a .50 caliber rifle($3500). If that's banned on virtue since it's a so called 'sniper rifle', most bolt action rifles also have to be banned since they are even more apt to be a 'sniper rifle'.
Anyone that backs a loading indicator(Davis just signed that) thinking that will stop 'accidents' is ignorant or crazy. I'm just waiting for little Tommy to see that and think the firearm is 'unloaded' when it fires. The first rule of guns is that they are always loaded. All this will really do is raise prices and ban a lot of guns that don't fit that 'safety' test.
And with the statements alone, can I trust him to Veto ANY anti-rights bill? About as much as I'd trust Davis, Cruz, or Bill Klinton. None whatsoever, and with Lockyear as AG there, he's even less trustworthy.
