A tax on a tax? Unbelievable,I thought maybe Taxachusetts was the only one.
Is this legal? Didn't the Patriots throw tea into Boston Harbor re taxation without representation?Who the hell is representing the smokers?

I'd love to have a "tobacco party" and do the same thing - symbolically at least.
I'm planing on planting tobacco next year - so I am willing to donate part of the crop and I can probably get the use of a boat - I just need a whole heck of a lot of people to show up on the Chesapeake Bay to do it..........

Patriots throw tea into Boston Harbor re taxation without representation? Actually a group of Patriots dressed as, and therefore disguised as, Indians threw tea into the harbor. Somehow there is a delicious irony in this...

Oh yes, Mears...New York is just FAMOUS for taxing taxes. This practice is one of their favorites, and they utilize some form of it all the time.
Ever hear of rent tax? That's where they tax the rent you pay for commercial space -- nevermind that normal real estate taxes are already figured into the rent you pay, and corporate taxes, and payroll taxes and (my personal favorite) "access" taxes. That's a charming one. That's where they charge you a tax for having an outside entrance door to your basement (on corporate property; I don't think they've had the nerve to try it on residential property. Yet.)
So if the Indians want to find a way to keep this money out of the state's hands, I say go for it, baby!
Time for another Tea Party, if you ask me.
