Space snap

Astronaut Ed Lu snapped this photo of the eye of Hurricane Isabel from the International Space Station on Sept. 13. At the time, Isabel was located about 450 miles northeast of Puerto Rico.

I'm with you,Tex. I'll take the typhoon/hurricane anytime if given a choice. A long time ago, I visited a friend of mine in San Fran. I was in the bathroom, to say the least, just brushing my teeth, ok. Then it struck. Of course, not realizing what it was I thought I was just feeling dizzy. Then my friend called me from her office and told me that there was a small bag near the door with some essential stuff and instructions on where to meet her sister and the rest of the family in case it got bad. Man, that was nerve-wracking!

Three yards and a cloud of mud

Former University of New Hampshire football player Matt Mezquita scores a touchdown for the Mount Washington Valley Hogs Sept. 5 in their first-round game in the World Mud Bowl Championships in North Conway, N.H. Eight teams from across New England are competing over the weekend in the two-hand touch mud football games. The event has raised more than $350,000 for local nonprofit organizations since the tournament started in 1976.

I'm sorry to hear about the rude way your son was treated. Also, my hats off to him for not punching out the daylights of that idiot!!! And there are a lot of them out there. Ungrateful moron! And there are a lot of them out there too. OK, I better stop now before I get carried away.

Please tell your son, in spite of that unfortunate incident, there are a lot of us out here who truly appreciate our men and women who have served and are serving in our Military. Now who was that pea-brained......... (breathe slowly, breathe slowly)

It also brings back bad memories from the past. Thank God idiots like this are few now-a-days

I was born in 1960 and I didn't know anything either but up to now I still don't understand the the mistreatment of our Vets. It's like "shooting the messenger." It's not right and it's not fair and it makes me angry too!

GOODNIGHT TROOPS AND CANTEEN

Good Night, All!

Dear Lord,
There's a young man far from home,
called to serve his nation in time of war;
sent to defend our freedom
on some distant foreign shore.

We pray You keep him safe,
we pray You keep him strong,
we pray You send him safely home ...
for he's been away so long.

There's a young woman far from home,
serving her nation with pride.
Her step is strong, her step is sure,
there is courage in every stride.

We pray You keep her safe,
we pray You keep her strong,
we pray You send her safely home ...
for she's been away too long.

Bless those who await their safe return.
Bless those who mourn the lost.
Bless those who serve this country well,
no matter what the cost.

God, Bless America!

Well, I could not imagine living like that either but post 9/11 the trunk of car is full of essentials and yep, there is a grocery cart full of essentials near my door with instructions on where to meet the rest of my family in case anything really bad happens here. Oh, I also have a small suitcase too. The only thing missing is the 9mm which I have yet to buy.

Goodnight Canteeners, our Military, Vets, Allies, Volunteers and your Families.
Take care and God bless you.

THANK YOU for protecting our FREEDOM

I Said a Prayer

for our Troops and Allies

I said a prayer for you today,
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart,
although He spoke no word.

I didn't ask for wealth or fame,
I knew you wouldn't mind,
I asked Him to send treasures,
Of a far more lasting kind.

I asked that He'd be near you,
At the start of each new day.
To grant you health and blessings,
And friends to share your way.

I asked for happiness for you,
In all things great and small.
But it was His loving care,
I prayed for most of all.
