And how long did our Union exist before slavery was abolished?

I admire and respect those that have come before me, but there ARE necessary changes and enlightenment that comes with time.

For instance, masturbation as a sin(I know this isn't about law, right here)came about as a misinterpretation of the crime of Onan. His sin was not following old Hebrew custom and impregnating his dead brother's wife.

Similarly, Jefferson had some bizarre ideas about homosexuals and while he knew slaves were human, he did view them in a paternally racist fashion.

So, we should take the good and admire the visionaries and throw out the bad. That is the way of things.

One of the things to admire from our history are those who understand that just because a law may be unwise, DOESNT make it unconstitutional.

Frankly, the substance of this ruling is almost irrelevent - this is a LEGAL issue ... this is about whether a state can regulate and make laws or whether federal courts dictate social policy.

The latter is a dangerous and perilous course. In this case, it is wrong.
