The situation is not the same as if it were a regular election. First, we need the best electable man for the job. IMHO, that's McClintock. Second, if he loses he goes back to the Senate to run as a more recognized candate at a later date. If he wins, the same district that elected Tom gets the chance to bring us a new face in a special election.
Looks like a no lose proposition to me.

I'm aware of the winner takes all scenario and I certainly agree Tom would make a fine Governor and being as he is so knowledgeable of all the happenings that got us in this mess, and has already proposed fixes that would work and not mean new and higher taxes.. and he did get the most votes of any conservative on the ticket, more then Simon even, I believe.
Dammit, Carry! ... I agree with you and your remarks.
How about this? We recall Lockyer and have Simon take his place as AG. He does have experience as a prosecutor and it would only be fitting to have someone there who is concerned about prosecuting corrupt political officials and mismanaged and manipulated and self-serving state commission board members.
Deal? ;-)

A Big, Bad, California BUMP to that.
Tom McClintock for:
- Governor
- Senator (not just State Senator, but the real thing)
- Overlord of Northridge (just kiddin'...)
By far the best guy in the state for any of those jobs
