I have no earthly idea what the grounds are. I have not read the recall petition yet. After I eyeball it, I'll let you know.

But, as a general rule, We the People ought to have the legal ability to recall any elected official. Might keep them a bit more honest.

As a general rule, we do. But this guy will never be recalled. This whole thread is a circle jerk of wishful thinking brought on by frustration.

Californians will never know until & unless they try. The effort is worth it.

Are you going to oppose recalling Davis? Refuse to sign the recall petition?

IOW, what are your intentions?

Heard Patrick Caddell on the radio last night. Even though he is a died-in-the-wool Dem, he is also leading an effort to recall Davis. It seems the California state constitution has a provision for doing so and the first step in the process is signature gathering. Based on the turn-out in the last election only about 100,000 signatures are needed. California residents/voters - watch for the signature drives.

Following getting the signatures and getting them certified, a special election would be called within eighty days.

This can be done!

I don't live there. And I wouldn't waste my time on anything unless I thought there was a real reason.

Opposition to an elected official is not a reason for a recall. That is what elections are for.

If it was a valid reason, I would be working to recall almost every elected politicion in the country.

Well then, I guess we ought to butt out and let the Californians handle it their way, shouldn't we?

HST, I hope they dump the miserable SOB!

What happens if he gets recalled? Does California hold another election? I confess to being ignorant on this issue. :-)

well for what I understand, it is a 2 part ballot. You vote the Gov out on recall, and write in your candidate. As I listened to Tom McClintock state, (hope I spell this right) plurality wins with the most name written in.
