LOS ANGELES(AP) - Two police officers on Saturday shot and killed a driver believed to be reaching for a gun, however, no gun was found, a police spokesman said. Veteran Officer Gordon Olson, with 19 years on the Police Department, spotted a car downtown with two men going the wrong way down a one way street about 1:30 a.m.

Better to be judged by 12 than be carried by 6!
If this guy was so handicapped, What The Hell Was He Doing Driving A Car?????
No it doesn't.
Perhaps you will tell those of us, who are mentally challenged, just what it means, from the police officers perspective, of course.
So you had a "bad" experience in that you were stopped by the police.
And for only going a little over the speed limit.
Oh....I understand.
Ok, which of these is the clue that the driver is rightfully a target for deadly force? Is it driving at 1:30 AM, or being in LA. These are not, to my knowldege, criminal acts, nor are either of these suspicious behavior, since I would wager that there are a good hundred thousand people on the streets at 1:30 AM in LA.
Or perhaps it is the driving the wrong way down a one-way street? That must be it. This is the modus operandi of drug dealers, bank robbers and terrorsists - the first thing you do when trying to evade police who otherwise didn't even know you were there is drive the wrong way down a one way street. I have little experience in LA. I have a lot in San Francisco, DC, Boston and New York. Let me tell you - one-way signs in our metropolitan areas are not always clear and obvious and it is easy to make a wrong turn and drive the wrong way down a one way street. I have done it more times than I would like to admit. Perhaps for this vioaltion of the motor vehicle code someone should take me out and shoot me.
...again...
Where does it say that?
You're a got dang genius! A perfect analogy. Not only is this the correct application of logic, it is a perfect example that in hindsight there was no justification for the 2 officers actions.
In this country we are suppose to try'em THEN fry'em (unless some public servant decides to save us the money).
These 2 perps made a mistake and 1 of them paid for it with his life. These 2 cops made a mistake that they should never be given the opportunity to repeat.
Sorry boys, case closed. Nobel Committee will just have to find another Chemistry Prize recipient.
and the "I'm lost" syndrome....
and even the "what the hell is he stopping me for" syndrome....
but I fail to understand the "why should I listen to him for, I'm a free American" syndrome.
I would hope you, and others, will realize I am refering to THIS incident.
Admittedly many police (about 800,000 nation wide) make bad decisions.
Also many shouldn't be police officers.
That is the "I'm only human" syndrome. ;)
Boy, am I surprised.
Carlino,in WAIT UNTIL DARK, to Mike Talman....
"Mr. Talman, you're not a lawyer by any chance?"
Mike...."No, I'm not, but...."
Carlino....No, I didn't think you were."
"A preliminary search of the driver and the vehicle did not turn up any weapons," the sergeant said, however, a clear plastic bag containing what was believed to be rock cocaine was recovered.
Page 15, The Police Acedemy Manual: In case you encounter someone driving the wrong way on a one way street and feel compelled to shoot said heinous offender, always carry a small glassine bag of crack cocaine that you have confiscated from one of your snitches (see Chapt. 4) so you can drop it at the scene.
