An American Association of Blood Bank survey in 2000 of 30,626 paternity tests showed that 30 percent of those taking the tests were not the real fathers. Please fix the title of this thread. The parenthetical phrase is not found in the linked article and is absolutely unfounded.
A better way of looking at it is that 70 percent of men who suspect a child is not his -- hence the paternity test -- find that it is afterall.

So it will. But that's no argument for favoring the wrongdoer.
To: marajade
Oh I think they { we } know . The problem is the courts seem have a prevailing disposition to apply law that is bias . Ultimately the best solution is to marry your best friend but that may be best reserved for another time & thread .
Regardless who is at fault this is bad law .

I wasn't misled in the least by the title, parenthetical comment or otherwise.

"Well, she appears to have made the best choice in this particular case."
My father was a jerk... if this had been law, my mother may have paid the price for it... Would that have been fair to me who was legitimate in a legitimate marriage as a child?

That's what I'm talking about, IAC. Keeps loose cannon ambulance chasers in line, doncha know.
To: marajade
It was 80% in 1995 is is 90% or better today. You questioned me, so I suggested you find out for yourself.
To: Jim Noble
Good point. I would have to agree.
To: marajade
Why would she have 'paid a price' for it? I don't see it.

I have many friends, all successful, great guys. NONE of them have any intention of getting married EVER.Funny how you and your friends determine what is success. To me marriage and procreation are a large part of a successful life.
To: Post Toasties
Because obviously my mother didn't know the kind of man she married...

>>>[90% of divorce filings are by women...] The three reasons that Dr. Laura condones for divorce are, in her words, the three A's - Adultery, Abuse, and Addiction (drugs/alcohol).<<<
Wasn't she caught years later for having been an adultress, thanks to a photographer who finally went public?
To: Post Toasties
I think women having children after marriage by others and deceiving their husbands about it is very serious wrongdoing. And I don't see how it has anything to do with your family situation so far as you have described it, either.
To: Between the Lines
I have many married friends too. Some of them have said they would try to beat me up, if I ever tried to follow in their footsteps.
Dont look for a point that isnt there.
To: End The Hypocrisy
What does that have to do with it? People can change... Does that make their advice worth any less?
To: marajade
Because obviously my mother didn't know the kind of man she married... Not my business, but maybe you should be blaming her more, and him less? As I mentioned earlier, it is WOMEN who decide when and if there is going to be a sexual episode.
To: BuddhaBoy
>>>When the woman decides it's over, all she has to do, is claim fear of abuse, and he is outta there, and there is NOTHING he can do about it. The police will remove him, if he doesnt go willingly, and she is free to move anyone else into his home that same day.<<<
That is just SHOCKING. Meanwhile, I guess the dumped husband nevertheless has to keep paying the mortgage payments on his ex's lovenest (which was formerly THEIR home).
To: marajade
Oh I have but this is where I go to lurk mode until something new comes aboot . I will say that as far as I am concerned my mother should have been paying support to my father .
To: brownie
Fine, allow the purported father to continue to act as a father to the child, but no legal financial obligations (the purported father could voluntarily financially support the child).I couldn't agree more. My concern is strictly for the kid.
Going after the bio-dad works for me.
