Compare that to the French who have--what--Jerry Lewis? Anything else? Certainly not mime. That ain't funny.
Marcel Marceau? Remember him? NOT FUNNY! He ended up so hated here that there have been a lot of movie scenes where bad things happen to annoying mimes. Oh, there was also once a French comedian named Fernandel but I don't know much about him.
The French do occasionally come up some priceless movies that get remade by Hollywood. One of the best is La Cage aux Folles (remade as The Bird Cage), also Trois Hommes et un Couffin (Three Men and a Baby, not to my liking but still a hit) and Mon Père, ce Héros (My Father the Hero). The funniest French film I ever saw was Les Ripoux (My New Partner), which was about an old-timer vice cop in Paris breaking in the rookie.
Whoever invented the Bidet (i think the guys name was Bidet) has played a joke of monumental proportions on his fellow countrymen...
The French: never take a bath but have the cleanest assholes on the planet...
