Thank you! I couldn't have said it better. As an adoptive parent, I have always believed that it was God's Plan that my daughter come to me through another woman. My one objection with some adoptions is when adopters, anxious to have a "Gerber" baby, go through the black (flesh) market.
Adoption is simply another way of forming a family. Sadly, the media tends to focus more on the adoptee "finding their birth mother" and celebrates it on shows like Oprah.
Recently, a child born to a single parent as the result of donor insemination, met her "dad", the sperm donor. The media hooplah was more than I could bear. The mother's devastated expression spoke volumes. Raising an adopted or "inseminated" child is a full time job with the same emotional investment of a biological child. The media, however, tends to view the parent(s) as second rate when they offer the child an opportunity to meet the "sperm donor" or "birth mother", neither of whom was there throughout the 18 year roller coaster ride of child rearing.
