This story reminds me of the guy who was found dead in his home after a couple of years with the Christmas lights still on.

I was just thinking of that. That guy was German too.

We had an odd story like this here in NW Ohio. A local investor purchased a home at the county auction. The county had taken the home because the property taxes were well in arrears. When the purchaser entered the home, he found the decomposed body of the previous owner. He did not get to keep the house because the county had served the deceased owner (by mail) with the legal notices required for seizure. Since he was dead, he was no longer the owner, his heir was. Therefore, the county did not have the right to take and auction the property.

I remember that, too.

He was in Germany (did they find him 3 or 4 years ago?) He had a TV guide in his lap dated 1985.

He was sitting in his chair in front of his TV, which was still on, all mummified like these. He had been a mean old recluse, so nobody missed him. They all thought he had moved away.
