Sorry to point this out, but I can't pass it up. you mention that only an atheistic bigot would have a problem with the 10 commandments becoming anything more than they already are. well:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me (purely christian)
Thou shalt not worship any graven image (purely christian)
Thou shalt not take God's name in vain (purely christian)
Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy (purely christian)
Honor thy father and thy mother (ok, but how is this "law" enforced again?)
Thou shalt not kill (we've already got that one on the books.)
Thou shalt not commit adultery(ditto)
Thou shalt not steal(ditto)
Thou shalt not bear false witness (ditto)
Thou shalt not covet (ok, but again, not exactly enforcable).

the only reason I point this out is to show that it doesnt take a liberal jerkoff to find fault with the 10 commandment being posted in federal buildings (although they already are)

A discussion of the ten commandments in a classroom setting is just as valid as a discussion of the kinds of religious persecution that led to the Mayflower compact.

Our constitution allows for Freedom of Conscience. This is not a thought that sprouted into being from the pen of our founding fathers. The "unenforceable" parts of God's law are explained by the first part of the first commandment from which all the others follow, so conveniently left out here. "I am the Lord, thy God." If you don't have that part down then all the rest is just so much civil code, and "thou shall not kill" has just as much meaning as "thou shall not walk on the grass."

Well, no. You might want to look up someone called Moses, from way before the birth of Christ.

So close your eyes and think of Christmas.

Hmm. Was there any talk about *enforcing* the Ten Commandments as law? Have you ever heard anyone propose that? How would that be, since all American laws have to be drafted by a legislative body and then signed into law by the executive branch head?
