Even WHO now says that the lifestyle can be more hurtful than smoking.

"...governments must take the issue of diet and exercise more seriously."
Since when is the role of government to be a national nanny? One mommy is enough for most of us.

My Uncle smoked for over 55 years....but ate a good diet and was active....(died at 82) I think they are right....although other bad behaviors can be deadly too....like acting homosexual - wonder when they'll pick up on that one?

Even WHO now says that the lifestyle can be more hurtful than smoking. Well, there's two ways they can go on this:
1) Forget that stuff about smoking. It's basically not that dangerous. Second-hand smoke especially. Feel free to indulge.
2) You must exercise! People who do not exercise will be taxed! Neighbors must report neighbors who do not exercise sufficiently! There will be no exceptions!
Mmmmmmm. Wonder which way it's gonna go...

The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you

This is ignorant. It's like saying, would you rather be run over by a semi or a greyhound bus. Dead is Dead.

Well, there's two ways they can go on this:I would say that the "Department of Homeland Security" will pick #2.

But we've been told for SOOO many years that smoking is the #1 cause of preventable death.
Guess what? Apparently it's not anymore. At least in the EU.
And did you ever believe that the World Health Organization would be the one to say it?

I refuse to listen to any of this nonsense about lack of exercise and fat consumption until they start acknowedging that the major reason for obesity is eating too many of the wrong kinds of carbohydrates.

Until being ill is outlawed, there will always be a "# 1 cause of illness". Thus the WHO busybodies will never be out of work.

ARE THE STATES GOING TO SUE COUCH AND LAZY CHAIR MANUFACTURERS NOW?
To: Just another Joe
But of course, they have bled the smokers dry, so they are forced to look for new prey.
