Legislature passes budget, adjourns (California)

Lawmakers passed a two-months-late budget early Sunday morning and approved a last-minute array of bills ranging from construction defects to driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants as the Legislature ended its 2002 session.

The $99 billion budget closed a $23.6 billion deficit through a combination of spending cuts and new revenues -- which legislative leaders took great pains to not call new taxes -- and required Gov. Gray Davis to make $750 million in cuts from government operations, not programs.

$99,000,000,000,000, thats a big number, pretty soon you will be talking about real money.

Wonder just how much $$ Californians pay in fed, state, and local taxes?

Lawmakers have called these "revenue enhancements" to avoid calling them tax increases and appeal to Republicans and their constituents.

LOFL!!! Yeah, "Republicans and their constituents" - - taxpayers.

California is overrun with parasites, I would urge any decent traditional families still in California to get out now - - run, don't walk. FLEE!!!

During the afternoon, Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson said he had reached a deal with Assembly Republicans to pass a $99 billion state budget, two months late and just hours before the Legislature was set to end its session.

...and Simon loeses another campaign issue. Way to go Republicans!

Just saw a Simon TV ad regarding Tosco contributions and toxic dumping on network TV. Maybe the campaign is finally building steam!

Of course Davis ads still run 3 to 1 over Simon Ads!!!!

I'm in Lakewood. I've seen a few Simon ads on Dish, but this is the first I've seen on network since the primary.

Where are you located? RB would be my guess.
