"What has the GOP spooked is the July 31 verdict by a California jury that found a company with ties to the Simon family guilty of fraud. Predictably, the story received saturation coverage by state media and has been featured prominently in every national report on Simon's bid to retake the Golden State for the GOP - not to mention a tsunami of Davis TV ads I read this when it came out. The man was a drug dealer I believe, and they fired him. Big DEAL! Unlike some who not only count them as friends but pardon them when they get caught, I might add. This is going to destroy Simon?
I didn't know about the polls that show Simon trending up, that is good news, because we already know is that Davis cannot help but have further damaging reports of some new scandal.

What we can say is that if the jury verdict made Bill Simon a political dead duck, the media pressitutes and the GrayDown campaign should have released polls by now showing GrayDown regaining the lead. Its been like a week or so since the news broke and they haven't which leads one to suspect the poll numbers haven't appreciably changed all that much. And GrayDown's drumbeat of constant negative ads attacking his rival having only made Simon look like a nice guy beaten up by a bully. Plus there's GrayDown's job approval rating of 30 percent which is definitely NOT a reelect number. The White House and RINO nervous nellies better calm down and take a deep long breath. GrayDown's still in big trouble and if the President walks away from the Simon campaign instead of fighting for the candidate, California conservatives will remember what the President did not do for our party here. Let's not turn a one time dose of bad nwws into a self-fulfilling prophecy in the fall. So let's go out there boys and girls and win one for the Gipper!!!

Why the pessimism?
Let's start with, "this thread only has 9 posts."
But seriously, Simon and Davis are both seen as crooks by most Californians.
We're already holding our noses.

Still, the good news didn't do much to quell critics, who inexplicably maintain that Simon doesn't have a prayer. Here's how the San Francisco Chronicle's Debra Saunders reacted after the Republican's lead was reported in the Washington Times. "Bill Simon should just give up. He's a lousy candidate. He should admit it, bow out of the race, then endorse a good Republican - Secretary of State Bill Jones - who has a shot at beating the otherwise-vulnerable Gray Davis." As what, a write-in candidate? The primary's been held, and the field is set, for better or worse. As usual, liberals think you can ignore the law and invent the rules on the fly.

BUMP Dat!

see to it that the Justice Department does its job by opening a criminal probe into the suspicious release of Simon's tax files.Ashcroft, Bush et al have no interest at all, judging by their actions, in dealing with government corruption.
Too bad, as honest government ought to be a top priority.
Ashcroft, particularly, is a sanctimonious fraud.

Evening breeze ought to kick in before long and we will move out to the patio and sip some cold Sun tea.
Had a blast with our 6 yr grandaughter but it was tiring for the old bodies!
But we are cleaning floors and got clothes washing to make up for the lost play time!
