When the extent of the budget gap became apparent in late April, she said, there was not enough time to plan the massive budget disruptions that will be necessary in 2003-04.

I wonder how it is that she just became aware of it in April, when all of us here who have been following California political developments saw this train wreck coming over a year ago. Heck, the State Treasurer has been promising to sell $12 billion of power bonds for over a year and a half ["any day now, any day..."]

So far, the good news is that the Republicans have not capitulated. There is still hope.

It looks like the state spendocrats will be having to cut both public employee voters jobs and the programs that support so many of the democratic party core voter groups prior to the the November elections. Ouch. That is going to not go over well with Davis core support groups.

It should make for an intersting election.
