Hi group,
I have been a (generally silent) member on here for quite some
time. For the record, I am about as conservative as they come, and
a big supporter of George W. Bush. And Ronaldus Magnus (Ronald
Reagon for you non-Rush listeners!) is my all-time hero.
Interesting thing happened today. Hehe. My group of
democratic/liberal union brothers & sisters got (unexpected by me
anyway) protested. Yep, that's right, I am a republican that belongs
to a union, and am even a state delegate in that union.
I would estimate that somewhere between 25 and 35% of our delegate
body is also republican, and do not agree to the political agenda of
the union. As a matter of fact (being a job steward at my place of
employment), the group of people I personally represent is probably
85-90% republican. Our union does a lot of good things which I do
support, although the politics of the union is hard for me to
digest. Believe me when I tell you it's an interesting position to
be in, being conservative and involved in a union.
Several of my republican friends and I enjoyed today's protest (a
couple even came out and participated a little - they liked the
bumper stickers), although I don't think our union (while it is a
big supporter of Davis) is really the enemy... our biggest agenda is
protecting our relatively low paid classified (non-teacher) members.
Believe me when I tell you this is a just cause in most cases.
To whom this applies, keep up the good work, and "Dump Davis".
