I wonder if the CATO institute has someone in mind to run against President Bush in the Republican Primary...someone who could actually win an election nationwide? I fear that the division among conservative ranks may allow us to be conquered by the democrats in '04. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Don't forget that the left is divided, too. How many leftists peeled off from the Democratic party to vote for Nader? How many from the right peeled off of the GOP to vote for Phillips, Buchanan, etc? I believe they were more fractured than the right in 2000.
If Bush becomes so obnoxious to the right that he loses more votes to third parties than the Dems do, then he deserves to lose.
