BILL Simon should just give up. He's a lousy candidate. He should admit it, bow out of the race, then endorse a good Republican -- Secretary of State Bill Jones -- who has a shot at beating the otherwise-vulnerable Gray Davis.

FYI: Debra Saunders is the Chronicle's token conservative.

She writes like a soccer mom, who's heard three of four facts about the candidates, but isn't really sure she has it all straight.
She'll vote for the taller candidate.

If Davis were facing a half-decent opponent, I'd call a guy leading in nine of eleven polls more than half decent

BILL Simon should just give up. He's a lousy candidate. From the lips of God to Debra's ear, then conveyed to us mere mortals. Debra has spoken! < /sarcasm>
Hey, let us give it a try:
"Debra Saunders should just quit writing. Her writing sucks."

FYI: Debra Saunders is the Chronicle's token conservative. That's interesting. I don't remember any of her columns being conservative. This one certainly isn't.
Either my memory is faulty (quite possible), or "conservative" in San Francisco is defined as "not communist."

Give Simon a cloth coat and a floppy dog named Checkers...
He'll do fine.

Conservative for San Francisco. Anywhere else she'd be a flaming moderate.

I'd tell Debs that if Bill Simon loses he loses. Funny enough they also said Ronald Reagan was dumb as an ox and he would lose too. I'm not sure Bill Jones would have made a difference and that while Simon isn't a seasoned pol, he doesn't care about winning. Maybe that's the best thing to come of this non-issue lawsuit from Los Angeles is that the voters apparently have made up their minds that Simon isn't too smart. Sorry Debs but your line of attack is one I'd expect from the Chronicle liberals. And the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

The voters are left to choose between Greedy and Greedy/Stupid.Notice how see calls conservatives stupid. Davis is greedy but not stupid. Typical liberal bilge.

Looks like Debra is growing tired of eating her lunch alone over there at the Chronicle.

Debra Saunders was always a Bill Jones fan from the start. Granted she may think GOP primary voters may have made a mistake but the fact remains he was their choice as our party's nominee and she should respect it. Besides where does Saunders get away in the early dog days of August violating the 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican." I guess the toxic liberal fumes of San Faggotsco have finally addled her mind.

Simon's was on WABC radio NYC last night,(Batchelor & Alexander Show.) He handled himself very well. He was articulate, stayed on message, and discussed the issues.

Well, actually, since Simon is leading, and Davis is not improving his reputation with his attack ads, it seems to me that things are going on roughly the right course. So articles and Free Republic comments like this truly baffle me.
I might add that I don't think write-in candidates have ever won a major election, so her suggested remedy is likely to throw the election to Davis. However much she may love Bill Jones - who, if my memory serves, has his own severe liabilities - the state is far better off if Simon, even if he's flawed, wins against Davis in November.

Looks like the liberals are worried.
I love it!

Give Simon a cloth coat Shouldn't that be give Mrs. Simon a cloth coat?
Though wearing such a coat might endear him to voters from Castro Street. He'd need to make sure he accessorized properly, though, or he'd be pilloried.
To: Pokey78
Either that or he's the most clueless candidate in California.
more clueless then the 9th Circus Court of Appeals or the Town Council of BeZerkley? LOLOL .. U Go Debra... We all need a good chuckle now and then.
DUMP DAVI$ & the Den of Socialists
GO SIMON

You know, I'm TOTALLY disappointed with Debra Saunders. She's usually more astute than this what she wrote here. Please. Simon is still leading in the polls, and this latest situation -- in which he wasn't even named in the suit! -- is minor.
We have three months before the election. You'd think this thing happened three days or three weeks before the election. I would much rather this happen now than in October.
We have time, we have momentum, and most importantly we have a GOOD candidate with SOLID values against an EVIL GOVERNOR who VALUES ONLY HIMSELF.
