"In particular, it is necessary today to help the indigenous people achieve their legitimate aspirations, respecting and defending the authentic values of each ethnic group. Mexico needs its indigenous people, and its indigenous people need Mexico."

Of course this won't mean anything to the La Raza reconquista bunch, their interpretation of 'Mexico' is the one that includes the SW US. I hope they don't use JPII to justify their own ends :(
