Thanks for the Socarides link.

As I recall, gay activist David Ehrenstein also wrote about the mugging of the APA (see my cited post above), but I don't recall the title of his book. You can find him quickly at Amazon, though.

I have a copy of Bieber's book, and it represents fairly well I think the state of psychiatric knowledge on the eve of the Gay Cabal's assault. Socarides' description of packed committees and exclusive seminars stinks of Bolshevik techniques of front-building. Marmor and Spitzer were two of the chief perpetrators of the whole thing, and Marmor was also the chief accuser of Paul Cameron in the Texas sodomy case that saw an ultra-liberal, forum-shopped, then-recent Carter appointee calling Cameron a liar and mountebank from a federal bench. That denunciation was fed back by Marmor and others to Nebraska, Cameron's home state, where a gay "truth squad" worked up a brief against Cameron to get him tossed from the American Psychological Association, in order to discredit him. But instead of fighting the charges, Cameron resigned, which in 20/20 retrospect may have been a mistake. You never resign the field to these guys, you always fight.

No doubt about it, Marmor has been an 800-pound bad guy in all this.

I didn’t know Marmor was involved with the case, I thought the “Judge” acted all on his own. This also stinks of more coercion from the APA’s “gay” Cabal.

You’ve mentioned that before, I thought he was only involved for his research study in the 73 committee’s decision along with the Hooker, Kinsey and the Ford and Beach studies. But later in the 70’s didn’t Marmor become APA chairman?
