Washington -- Federal regulators unanimously created new price limits for California's electricity market Wednesday -- as state officials had urgently requested -- but only after ordering the state to form a new governing board independent of the governor's control.
The new limit of $250 per megawatt hour is higher than the current price ceiling of $91.87 that was set to expire Sept. 30. Imposed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in June 2001, the limit has been widely credited as a key element in quashing the enormous price spikes and blackouts experienced during the state's power crisis last year.

The new price cap isn't the significant issue at all. It's the destruction of Cal ISO's board of commies. Woo Hoo!
I don't know where this socialist scum came from or who is financing him but he has been a thorn in the side of the electric problem since it started.
He has constant press attention in the San Diego Union and I don't go along with anything he says, by inuendo mostly, he advocates state ownership of all the power especially the transmission lines.
I have the feeling that he is financed by enviro organizations since he has been a strong advocate of confiscating the Edison Company which would give the enviros control of a massive portion of the Sierras and their water rescorces. I'm not so sure that a lot of the problems with electricity in California revolve around the desire to capture the land and lakes of Edison which would be a disaster.
Has this been posted anywhere yet? I don't know if I'm getting all these or not.
Let's hear it for our next guest, Robert357...
Oh God, that would be fun to watch. Just go to the border with NV, OR, and AZ and cut all those lines which provide the lifeblood of electricity to california.
Might as well cut the natural gas pipelines, too, while you're at it babe.
California wouldn't last a week.
FERC is the 800 pound ape that goes and does what it wants. California and Gov Davis better learn this lesson.
It took FERC over one year to respond to the Cal-ISO non-independence issue, but they surely did.
I'm thinking that Davis will sue, if he can.
